Emma W. Couples - Confirmed reviews ALL

Staff were helpful and polite, particularly the lady with fantastic graphic eyeliner skills when we checked in. The hotel was well located and bed was comfortable. However, it was a very small room for the price and it was incredibly hot with no AC and unable to open the window properly which made it uncomfortable. The tea, coffee and milk felt rationed, even when we asked for more. It didn't live up to the price we paid. Lots of scuffs, marks etc making it look very dated. I would stay again if it was cheaper.

Dear Emma W., Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your recent stay with us. We are delighted to hear that you found our team to be helpful and polite, and we will be sure to pass your kind comments on to the member of staff who welcomed you at check-in. It's also wonderful to know that you appreciated our convenient location and found the bed comfortable. We are sorry to learn that aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. We understand your comments regarding the room size, temperature, and overall value for money. As part of our commitment to improving our guests' experience, we are currently undertaking a refurbishment of our guest rooms. We are pleased to say that our public areas have now been completely renovated, and we look forward to completing the bedroom refurbishment in due course. Regarding the windows, they are fitted with restricted openings due to health and safety regulations, which means they cannot be opened fully. However, we do provide fans upon request, and our reception team is always happy to assist with this should guests require one during their stay. We are also sorry that the tea, coffee, and milk provisions did not meet your expectations. While additional refreshments are always available on request, we regret that this left you feeling they were being rationed, and we will share your comments with the team for review. Thank you once again for your valuable feedback. We appreciate your honesty and are pleased to hear that you would consider staying with us again. We hope that the improvements currently underway will provide an even better experience on your next visit. Sincerely, Gabriel Mercure Glasgow Team

Beds a nice. Bathrooms and overall facilities are a bit basic. Bathrooms not very clean. Lift was not in good condition.

Dear Mannes T., Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're pleased to hear that you found the beds comfortable. We're sorry to learn that the bathrooms and overall facilities did not meet your expectations, particularly regarding cleanliness. Your comments have been shared with our housekeeping and maintenance teams so we can continue to improve. Regarding the lift, we are currently undergoing refurbishment works to enhance our facilities. During this time, one of our lifts has been boxed in for the contractors' use, and a notice was placed inside to keep our guests informed. Sincerely, Gabriel Mercure Glasgow Team

Room was very basic and small. Decor was a bit dated. Only a small fan for ventilation which didn’t help much on a warm night. Breakfast was decent but overpriced if not included in rate. Decent location but that’s about it

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We're sorry to hear that your room did not fully meet your expectations, particularly regarding the size, décor, and ventilation on a warm evening. We truly appreciate your honest comments, as they help us identify areas where we can improve. We're pleased to hear that you found our location convenient. Regarding breakfast, we'd like to mention that our pricing is based on a two-for-one offer available at the hotel, which we hope provides good value for guests. We appreciate your feedback on this as well. Thank you again for staying with us. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide you with an even more enjoyable experience. Kind Regards, Joy Villanueva Mercure Glasgow City Hotel - Duty Manager

Not the biggest of rooms and no air condition which was a problem in hot weather.....but Matthew saved the day by going out of his way to source a fan from his manageress's desk ....the personal touch is why most people will go back to hotel...Matthew should be kept and nurtured to become future management.

Dear Allan M., Thank you so much for sharing your experience — I’m really glad to hear that the hotel’s location worked well for you and that Matthew made such a standout impression during your stay. It’s wonderful to read how he went out of his way to source a fan for you, especially during the hot weather. That kind of genuine, personal touch is exactly what makes a stay memorable, and your recognition of his effort means a lot. Matthew is a fantastic example of the kind of team spirit we aim to nurture, and your comments about his future potential are truly appreciated. Thank you again for taking the time to highlight both the positives and the challenges — feedback like yours helps us continue improving while celebrating the people who make a real difference. Arthur P. Couples - Confirmed reviews ALL

DO NOT STAY HERE! The rooms are small and in need of a full refurb. The smell in the room was unbearable. There is no air conditioning which meant we did not get any sleep at all on both nights as the temperature was 29 degrees through the night (no fans, etc). The noise from outside was horrendous, with singing and shouting going on until the early hours. As if that was not bad enough, the external glass bins were emptied at least 3 times between midnight and 6am!! One lift was not working and the other one broke down at one point. As if this was not enough, we paid £220 per night for a room that was worth around £70 per night. To add insult to injury, the person checking in after me paid £82! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Dear Arthur P., Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review. I can hear how frustrating and uncomfortable your experience was, and I appreciate you being so open about it. It’s clear that several things combined to make your stay far from what you expected — the room size and condition, the smell, the lack of air‑conditioning during unusually high temperatures, the noise outside, and the lift issues. When all of that happens at once, it understandably leaves a very strong impression. While I can’t change what happened, I do want to acknowledge your experience respectfully. The extreme heat in the city recently has made rooms without AC particularly difficult, and although fans are available on request, I understand that this still wouldn’t have solved everything you described. The external noise — especially roadworks, nightlife, and glass collections — can be unpredictable, and it’s unfortunate that it all happened during your stay. The difference in room rates you mentioned would also feel unfair, and I appreciate you highlighting it. Pricing can vary depending on booking time, demand, and availability, but I understand how it looked from your perspective. Your feedback is valuable because it shows exactly what guests notice most, and it helps guide improvements in areas like room comfort, noise management, and guest communication. Sincerely, Rohan Jain Duty Manager Mercure Glasgow Team
