Have stayed here before and aware its TA reviews are poor, I have always found the rooms clean and comfy for the price, even if the rest of the hotel was a little shabby.. After my last visit I will not be coming back.. After collecting keys etc, went to the room to find the toilet was broken. It would not flush and the pump ran continuedly, the radiator was on full and the thermostat control had been removed, so no way to regulate the heat! I returned to reception to ask for a change of room, to be told the hotel was full, they had no more rooms available and the issues in the room were very minor!! The receptionist had no answers to resolve the situation and appeared to be uninterested in anything apart from getting agitated by the que building behind me in the reception area. I asked to speak to senior management and was given the stock answer "Sorry no one is available" When I realised he was both uninterested and oblivious to my request for a room change. I asked for a refund to my card, which I was assured would be processed in 48 hours .5 days on, still NO refund. Thankfully after a I made a few calls the Ibis Shipley ( Same company as Mercure Bradford. Accor hotel group ) a few miles down the road were extremely welcoming and apologetic over the the way we were treated at their partner hotel and for a similar price has a wonderful evening in a much better equipped and more welcoming hotel.

We had a three night stay in the quietly located Mercure Bradford. On arrival we were told we had been upgraded to a Privilege room which sounded great. At first, the receptionist did not look very pleased to see us and she did not explain the Covid cleaning system to us (we had to ask the helpful cleaner why our towels and coffee were not being replaced). Unfortunately, the room was a little tired - a worn chair sat in front of a chipped desk (other items were also noticed to be chipped). The carpet had some marks/stains and there was a broken electric socket in the corner. No hairdryer. Also a supposed "perk" of the privilege room is meant to be a Nespresso machine but this was absent (I only just discovered this benefit while writing this review or I would have mentioned it). However, the bed was large and comfortable and the room was quiet and well located for our holiday in the area so overall we enjoyed our stay.
Worst Mercure I have stayed

Very noisy when I bed and the landing door opens a gust of air would go through and would think it was your door opening. On the morning although checkout is 11, the cleaner attempted entry at 10:30

No clean towels or cleaning offered throughout our stay. Payed £170 for 3 nights and no toothpaste in the room, given two tea bags and no more allowed. Wasn’t allowed to pay for late check out as they ‘wasn’t offering it at the moment’. Corridors smelt like old people. Room was fine but very basic. Police outside arresting someone 2/3 nights of our stay. Not much going on around the hotel. Could have had the same if not better experience at a premier inn.
