Have stayed here before and aware its TA reviews are poor, I have always found the rooms clean and comfy for the price, even if the rest of the hotel was a little shabby.. After my last visit I will not be coming back.. After collecting keys etc, went to the room to find the toilet was broken. It would not flush and the pump ran continuedly, the radiator was on full and the thermostat control had been removed, so no way to regulate the heat! I returned to reception to ask for a change of room, to be told the hotel was full, they had no more rooms available and the issues in the room were very minor!! The receptionist had no answers to resolve the situation and appeared to be uninterested in anything apart from getting agitated by the que building behind me in the reception area. I asked to speak to senior management and was given the stock answer "Sorry no one is available" When I realised he was both uninterested and oblivious to my request for a room change. I asked for a refund to my card, which I was assured would be processed in 48 hours .5 days on, still NO refund. Thankfully after a I made a few calls the Ibis Shipley ( Same company as Mercure Bradford. Accor hotel group ) a few miles down the road were extremely welcoming and apologetic over the the way we were treated at their partner hotel and for a similar price has a wonderful evening in a much better equipped and more welcoming hotel.

Weekend break.

We had a three night stay in the quietly located Mercure Bradford. On arrival we were told we had been upgraded to a Privilege room which sounded great. At first, the receptionist did not look very pleased to see us and she did not explain the Covid cleaning system to us (we had to ask the helpful cleaner why our towels and coffee were not being replaced). Unfortunately, the room was a little tired - a worn chair sat in front of a chipped desk (other items were also noticed to be chipped). The carpet had some marks/stains and there was a broken electric socket in the corner. No hairdryer. Also a supposed "perk" of the privilege room is meant to be a Nespresso machine but this was absent (I only just discovered this benefit while writing this review or I would have mentioned it). However, the bed was large and comfortable and the room was quiet and well located for our holiday in the area so overall we enjoyed our stay.

Worst Mercure I have stayed

Very noisy when I bed and the landing door opens a gust of air would go through and would think it was your door opening. On the morning although checkout is 11, the cleaner attempted entry at 10:30

No clean towels or cleaning offered throughout our stay. Payed £170 for 3 nights and no toothpaste in the room, given two tea bags and no more allowed. Wasn’t allowed to pay for late check out as they ‘wasn’t offering it at the moment’. Corridors smelt like old people. Room was fine but very basic. Police outside arresting someone 2/3 nights of our stay. Not much going on around the hotel. Could have had the same if not better experience at a premier inn.

I needed somewhere to stay for one night while on a two day course. I wanted a clean room with a comfy bed and hot water.......just what I got. Thank you.

Very straightforward. Check in was easy. We didn't stay for breakfast as we were going out very early. Had a good night's sleep, hotel was very quiet even though there was a wedding on that night. Staff were helpful and polite. Room was very clean. We had no issues. We would stay here again.

Not Accor standards at all

The hotel decor is very tired & little things did not work. However breakfast was special and by that I mean specially dreadfull. We stood by the sign that tells you to wait to be seated and NOTHING happened - for many minutes, so we gave up waiting and seated ourselves. The buffet was very poor, eggs seriously congealed, bacon like leather from being too long on the counter, a toaster that only made a warm slice of bread, a coffee machine that gave a taste of badly cleaned pipes, no croissants, all in all it was an advert for the worst of UK catering, not in the sightest typical even of IBIS. It could have been good, but it had all the signs of a manager who did not care about quality and did not bother to check the staff's attitude.

Absolutely terrible. Arrived and waited over 39 mins for someone to come to reception. Room was clean and tidy and really nice. Had an evening meal and waited over an hour and half for food. Absolutely terrible.

Attended for a wedding and overnight stay, no bar open despite the Bridegrooms family being assured on the previous Wednesday one bar would be open, sullen staff - this was a wedding! When moving chairs from the wedding area to the dining area, just pushed through with not a please or thankyou, not impressed

It took attempts to find a room without urine stained mattress. Corridor smelt musty. Whole hotel very tired and in need of investment

Excellent stay overnight, good room clean and tidy. Good choice of food at breakfast although the scrambled eggs were dry. Good service from bar staff to the restaurant staff. Marked it down one point as the decorations and carpets were looking tired. (Refurbishment required). Good value for the money.

The only thing I wS disappointed with was when we arrived for a family wedding at 2 o'clock we could not get into our room till 3 o'clock. I know hotels have times to get into your rooms but considering we were there for a wedding I thought we might have been able to get into our room a little earlier.

I have stayed at this hotel numerous times, I know that some of the facilities are tired, the building is old. That said, on my last visit, I found a real warmth about the hotel which made me feel very welcome.

Thank you for your kind review from your stay with us. It is always nice to have a retuning guest see the hotel in the light we try to portray it, we hopefully make our guest feel warm when they enter into the hotel with our Yorkshire hospitality

We stay at the Bankfield fairly regularly when visiting family. We normally book a basic room (which is perfectly good for a short stay) and would just like to say 'thank you' to the staff for upgrading our room on the occasions when the hotel isn't too busy! Much appreciated!.

Thank you for your review from your stay. It was very pleasant to read your review, I am glad you took the upgrade which was offered to you, we do like to read such nice reviews. We hope to see you soon when you are next in the area for your family visit
