Tired and not a 4 star!

This hotel was awful. It definitely is not a 4 star hotel. The rooms would not get 1 star in my opinion. Our room was unclean…the carpet was stained in multiple places, the sink was cracked, the TV didn't work and the remote control was filthy…and the mattress was heavily wee stained with a very thin unfitting cover over it! Other things to note, there is no lift. We had an elderly Labrador with us who had to go up 2 flights of stairs. We were not advised on booking. There was a wedding reception on, the music dominated the restaurant and bar and also the guests seemed to have free roam of the hotel. Again not advised on booking. The restaurant and bar was freezing as the doors were all open due to the wedding guests going in and out. There were 2 yellow sofas right next to the front entrance that you could sit in with your dog! That is not pet friendly! The only positive things were the food - despite our reservations over cleanliness of the hotel we did eat there and the food was good, dinner and breakfast. The manager who was on site was apologetic and did all she could to apologise within the limitations of the actual hotel failings. Basically, the staff were excellent, the food was great, but the hotel itself is tired and run down needing a serious upgrade.

I stayed with my partner on our way to attend a wedding in Neath The hotel was lovely and clean, breakfast was served warm with no issues. Staff were helpful The room was spotless, everything we needed. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay with more helpful lovely staff.

The only good part of the hotel is the bar area. The bedrooms are dated and dirty. My room had empty sweet wrappers on the floor. Breakfast was ok at a push. Cereal containers sticky and broken with no servicing spoons. The hotel is in desperate need of an upgrade,

Such a warm and welcoming hotel! Staff are so kind and helpful. Rooms were perfect for our family of 4. Food is super tasty, breakfast is buffet a style all fresh and replenished within in seconds, evening menu has a wide variety of options from gluten free to vegan options!

Stayed at mercure swansea, staff were very helpful, couldn’t do enough for us, room was clean and plenty of space for the 4 of us, breakfast and our evening meal was lovely and staff made a big fuss of the kids, which is always a plus, I will definitely be coming back.
