Afternoon tea

Afternoon tea for two vegetarians. We had a Virgin Experience Voucher and were unsure what to expect, but it was lovely. The sandwiches were very fresh, the cakes were good and the tea was Twinings English Breakfast, all served on white china. The reception staff and our waiter David were very helpful and pleasant and the whole experience was better than we expected. Sadly, while there was an event in another part of the hotel, the dining room was deserted and the ladies loo was in need of some attention ( I reported it to reception).

Woken up by cleaner /maintenance

Woken up at 08.20am by what appeared to be a cleaner. Said he’d knocked on the door of the wrong room. I was VERY tired and unwell and was looking forward to a lie-in. Surely , waking someone up at 8.20 is something that should not happen. I mentioned it to reception when I was passing later , but received no apology or explanation. Very poor on both counts . The rest of the staff were excellent and the hotel very nice

We have just got back from our stay and cannot be happier. The staff were very welcoming and helpful throughout. The room and facilities were very good, clean and well equipped, Tv, iron, hairdryer etc. We had an evening meal 3 courses which was well presented and very tasty! I would say the only slight disappointment was the starters which were a little small for the price. Breakfast was immense though! Continental, full English and a great selection of meats cheeses and cereals, probably one of the best I have had. We also used the leisure facilities which were clean and very pleasant. Pool was a good temperature as was the jacuzzi. We did have some children taking part in swimming lessons, however this was not an issue as the pool was sectioned off for them to swim. Overall a great experience Will deffinatly be back again.

Stayed here for 3 nights to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We were originally staying Friday to Monday but a very close friends funeral was on the Friday so my husband rang to see if we could alter the days which we could no problem.. Having arrived around 1 o’clock we knew it was a little soon to check in so we waited in the bar. After some misunderstanding with charging our drinks etc to our room this was resolved very quickly and 15 minutes later our room was ready.. a little disappointed we didn’t get upgraded being diamond members we were upgraded the following day to a very large suite. Both rooms were nice though in need of a little TC .. the hotel is pretty old.. The breakfast was very good albeit a little disorganised at times.. The staff Laura on reception went above and beyond for my husband’s birthday 🎈🎉🥳 balloons, card and bubbles on ice..Thank you so much.. also two members of the bar staff.. Taylor and Richard were excellent and also DG who did lots of jobs whilst we were there.. Thank you once again to the whole team! We will return!

I would highly recommend this hotel. Warm welcome with advice on local restaurants and Chester Zoo. Nice bar area and a very relaxed and good quality breakfast. Very friendly staff throughout. Leisure centre was a particular highlight with the staff there ready to engage with you and help you find all that you needed.
