Rooms need renovating

The rooms need renovating badly - chipped skirting boards, dirty black pipes in bathroom, damaged bedside cabinet and ripped pillow cases. The room was on a corridor leading to the fitness center, and there was constant noise from people going that way. Staff were very pleasant. Good location and parking.

Having stayed 2 nights here we have nothing but praise. Upon arriving we checked into our room which had an unpleasant odour we went to reception and were quickly upgraded with no issue at all and the double room we had was lovely. Very clean with a comfortable bed everything we needed for a two.night stay. We used the health club for a swim and jacuzzi which was lovely and clean and the pool was so warm which is always a bonus. We had a couple of drinks in the bar which was also nice albeit a bit pricy but you are in a hotel. Breakfast was buffet style and there was so much choice and all good quality. The staff of the hotel are very kind, helpful and friendly. All in all a very nice stay and the hotel is perfectly placed for the city centre and Chester Zoo. Would have no.issues with staying here again 😀

Stay anywhere but here, it’s awful. Should be 2 star, not 4!

In no known universe is this hotel 4 star! On entering the hotel, the pool table is an indicator of what to expect, our hearts sank when we saw that, chavtastic! There was only one member of staff on reception during a busy check in. There are no lifts to a lot of the floors, the decor is dated and grubby. Our room was a family room, which is not what we asked for, we wanted a double, so a double with a double bed, a hole instead of a wardrobe, and two cheap camp-beds was disappointing. The room was cramped, and frankly DHSS depressing. The rooms are dark, drab, poorly lit with hardly any sound proofing. Our room had loud road noise and we could hear the people next door talking. The whole hotel smells of stale cooking oil. The bathroom is tiny, cheaply decorated and grotty with cheap thin towels and the lowest quality toilet paper. Beyond coffee/tea making facilities and soap/body lotion there are none of the complimentary items one would expect from a four star hotel such as comb, vanity set, dental kit, shaving kit, etc. The spa changing rooms were filthy. This place is no better than a 2-3 star budget hotel. Save your money and go to a Premier Inn. The rooms are nicer, brighter, cleaner and cost less. Thank god we’re only in this dump for one night.

Me and my partner checked into this hotel this evening, we went for a swim as soon as we got in shortly after we arrived to our room we notice blood on the sheets after I had already sat on them after further inspection I found a dirty thong just hanging out on the floor under the bed, I pick this up not realising what it is. Me and my parter are reasonable people and they offered us a new room, we were polite about this only to find out the room stank of cigarettes. We decide not to stay the night and head down to reception to find the general manager accusing me that it was my mess so he can not offer compensation which is not on, this is a safety and extreme biohazard. We were told that these room undergo a 3 person inspection which is very surprising to hear that 3 people have missed the basic health and safety standards of both rooms. I advise you don’t waste your money.

We take all reports relating to cleanliness, safety, and guest experience seriously and conducted a full internal review of this matter at the time it was raised. According to our records and staff reports, the guests occupied the original room for approximately four hours before any concerns were brought to our attention. During this period, the room was in the guests’ sole possession and control, with multiple exits and re-entries recorded. Prior to check-in, the room had passed our standard pre-arrival housekeeping procedures, which include documented inspections. Once the concerns were reported, our team responded promptly and offered an alternative room as a goodwill gesture, despite there being no objective evidence at that stage to indicate that the reported condition existed prior to occupancy. The replacement room was declined due to a reported odor of cigarette smoke. It is relevant to note that the guest confirmed they are a smoker, which made it difficult to independently verify the source or timing of the odor. Throughout the interaction, our staff remained professional and made reasonable efforts to resolve the situation. Subsequent requests were made for increasing levels of compensation; however, these could not be supported by verified findings or inspection records. In accordance with company policy, compensation cannot be offered where responsibility cannot be reasonably or objectively established. The decision to leave the property was made by the guests themselves. At no point were they asked to depart, nor were they refused assistance. We remain confident that our team followed appropriate procedures and acted in good faith to address the situation in a fair and proportionate manner. We stand by our housekeeping standards, inspection processes, and staff conduct. While we are always open to addressing genuine concerns, we must ensure that all outcomes are based on factual information, documented procedures, and the consistent application of policy.
