Convenient location

It's handy to have a kitchenette and be near shops and stations. The apartment was clean but the bedding triggered allergies, perhaps the pillows etc were rather old and needed a deep clean. The walls were a bit thin, so sleep quality wasn't great and I used ear plugs. Some other residents were a bit noisy, pushing and banging furniture around a lot. The neighbourhood didn't feel great - perhaps it was near the station. Beware of random people on the street asking for money. I avoided eye contact with strangers and did not bother to be friendly after some elderly lady asked for money. She didn't appear particularly in need, but since I smiled, thought I was easy pickings. On the whole it didn't seem a particularly welcoming place nor safe surrounds. I have definitely felt safer in many other large cities. Other reviews have noted that this hotel is used by people in need. I'm all for inclusion and supporting the community. However, there was an overall detachment on the part of the staff and I would probably stay somewhere else next time.

Disappointing - needs cleaning and renovation

The Aparthotel feels tired, run down and the rooms are badly in need of renovation and a proper clean. In my room there were brown stains on the bedroom walls and the side of the bed. A bedroom curtain was pulled off its runner and would not close. Lots of dirt and mould around the shower and tiles in the bathroom. The room had a stale, rotten smell which we tried to improve by leaving windows open, but it never went away. Above the bed there were crumbling joints in the ceiling plasterwork. There were also large chips in the surface of the bath and the worktop in the kitchenette area. The room coathooks were not secured and hanging off the wall. There were large clumps of dust falling from the ceiling lampshade. Lots of minor things that could be easily fixed, so no excuse for a room to be in this state. More worrying was exposed circuitry in the bathroom around a ceiling cord and an open fuse box in the wardrobe. Good points: Staff on the front desk were friendly, helpful and professional. But absolutely would not recommend staying here until Adagio invests in cleaning and renovating the hotel.

Good for cheap break away

Me and my partner are currently at the end of our stay at this hotel. Our expectations weren’t very high due to the price and previous reviews. I will start with the pros -It’s in an amazing location right next to shops the bus and train station and plenty of choice of places to eat. We would recommend Bella Italia across the street. - the hotel is reasonably priced although upon checking the prices seem to go up after we leave -reception staff are very friendly Cons - most things in the room do not work for example the hairdryer, bathroom towel radiator and the window does not open at all. The kitchens dishes and utensils needed washed when we arrived as there was still hardend food on them. Dishwasher stank so we had to hand wash everything Room was dusty with dust hanging off ceiling light Beds were rock hard and a little bit broken No housekeeping unless you want to pay for it to be cleaned therefore you get what you get 2 towels, 2 toliet rolls etc… no top ups. The hotel does have a “shop” but the prices are sky high for example we walked past a man who didn’t speak English who was trying to buy a small can of something and a worker (not reception staff ) charged him 4 pounds which seemed a bit extortionate. The hotel does have a laundry room however one out of the two machines is out of order and the other is coverd in black slime also they charge an arm and a leg for a wash and dry. You need to scan your key card to get into the hotel to use the lifts and to get into your room which seems a little excessive especially when carrying shopping. Overall for the price we payed we didn’t mind these cons however if we were to pay the current rate online we would have been extremely disappointed. We would return again at the right price.

Excellent location of the hotel, near the city center. Reception;s staff was amazing and the room was very comfortable. Even we hadn't booked breakfast, we arranged to have the evening before, and finally it was much better than we expected. Even the breakfast area wasn;t so cute and near the elevators, the food was tastful and had variety. The only remark we had, is that maybe at the night, has to raise the heating a little more.
