Janie H Families - TripAdvisor review

This is an attractive hotel, in beautiful grounds, but it seems badly managed. On the plus side, it was warm, with comfortable rooms and pleasant views, but everything was grubby, sticky and dilapidated. Also, having booked for a family lunch, we were looking forward to the mouthwatering menu we had been offered, only to be informed upon arrival that only a limited menu of burgers and pizza was available. This was very disappointing, and I felt we could have been informed beforehand. The staff were all very charming and helpful, but seemed to be struggling to manage. This place could be wonderful with a bit of attention, but as it stands I would not stay again

Far below expectation

So disappointing. Generally the hotel looks very tired, scuffed walls, very dated and shabby bathrooms, threadbare furnishings, the bar ran out of several items, cocktails eg espresso martinis straight out of a can (and then they had none of those either) but the most unpleasant was their twisted burger at around £16 , it was inedible. It was dry, the bun hard around the edges and completely tasteless. The positives were the bed, which was large and comfortable , and the location pretty and quiet. The photos on the website looks so inviting but the reality was quite the opposite. Suggest definitely not a 4 star hotel.

Well located ,quiet ,great surroundings

We were given the same room that we'd had in October, disappointingly there was some rubbish left over. Room was not too hot thankfully and we were given the complimentary drinks this time unlike our previous visit despite booking the same way. Quiet time even though it was the start to half term. Lovely sleep as the bed is the best. Breakfast was cooked to order this time while it didn't take long the breakfast was overcooked apart from the egg. Sadly, we won't be coming back due to the policy of once your child turns 12 they have to have a separate room!

Dear Kenneth M., We're glad to hear you enjoyed our location, surroundings, and the tranquility of your stay. However, we're sorry to hear about the disappointment with the room cleanliness and breakfast quality. We'll address these concerns internally to improve. Thank you again for your comments. Regards, Frankie Front Office Manager Mercure Bristol North the Grange Hotel
