Checked in on my 3 night stay with open arms. Receptionist was very helpful when checking in and gave me all the information required to help with stay. The bar staff were helpful when deciding drinks selection and I witnessed some patience from Tee when dealing with a customer that didn’t know what she wanted, the lady walked away a happy customer. Tim was a great host and ensured everyone was comfortable and regularly checked upon the guests alongside Tee with customers. Overall a great experience.

We stayed for our Virgin steam experience. Hotel was a little further out than expected so a taxi/bus needed. Room had everything we needed, staff were lovely and helpful. Breakfast was good too.

Bit tired and poor dinner

Room is a bit tired. Peeling paint on bathroom ceiling. Room was quiet though. Breakfast was fine, dinner was pretty bad. Food is clearly not made on the premises. I'd get a much better meal at a harvester. Staff disappeared at about 8.45. Had to get up to find someone to pay.

Found out on arrival that the dining room was fully booked and that we would have to eat in the bar. On arrival at the bar found that we could do that now (6 pm) or around 9pm. We opted for now and the choice was limited and the staff were confused by a new pricing structure that came into effect the next day. There seemed to be a lack of communication between staff who tried hard and management who had not explained things to staff and had failed to tell us in advance that out choices might be compromised by the arrival of a German tour party and a wedding group. It was surprising to enter our room to discover that there was no safe. This should be a standard item Having taken the trouble to complete your form I want Mercure to see this. I do not want this publicised. Why leave a comment and then tell me to leave the comment section blank. Another comment on management capability! Why not tick a box if you want the comment to be kept private?
