Your experience is not typical of the tour, the guides, or the way guests usually feel about exploring the island. The tracks on K’gari are naturally bumpy due to the sand terrain, and for guests who are prone to motion sickness we recommend taking a travel-calming medication beforehand—just as you would for any off‑road adventure. The tour is designed specifically to showcase the island’s most iconic locations, including Lake McKenzie, rainforests, and beaches, and it provides access to areas that are not reachable without a high-clearance 4WD and an experienced driver. While self-driving can be a great option for some, many visitors choose the tour precisely because it allows them to experience the island safely and without the stress of navigating challenging sand tracks. We’re sorry the tour didn’t meet your expectations, but it’s disheartening to see the resort itself rated so poorly for an experience that is optional and enjoyed by thousands of guests each year.
