staff and location great as always, apartment we stay in 615, is terrible, carpet smells, sofa is disgusting, sad there is no consistency with quality within rooms and apartments they offer

As an Accor member, I usually prioritise staying within the network, so I was genuinely looking forward to our stay at the Mantra in Hervey Bay. There were certainly some highlights, but overall the experience didn’t quite meet expectations. The standout was the view from the balcony, which was absolutely beautiful and a real feature of the stay. The reception area also presented well and gave a positive first impression on arrival. Unfortunately, the apartment itself felt tired and in need of a soft refurbishment. While it was clear the cleaners were doing their job, the furnishings in the living area were quite dated and felt worn, and in some cases not as fresh as you’d hope. The layout of the apartment also created some challenges. The bedroom had no real ventilation, which made it quite warm and stuffy, even with the ceiling fan on. There was also light coming in from the corridor window, which impacted sleep, and despite our attempts to block it out, the room remained uncomfortable. The pool area was another disappointment. Parts of it were closed off, including the spa, and the pool gates appeared to be broken. This didn’t look like a short-term issue. There were also cigarette butts and empty alcohol cans around the pool, which detracted from what could otherwise be a lovely space. While the balcony view was a highlight, we were also aware of cigarette smoke drifting up from other guests, which made it less enjoyable at times. Overall, there’s real potential here given the location and views, but the property would benefit from some attention to maintenance, refurbishment and shared area presentation to bring it back in line with what you’d expect from the brand.
