Decent place in a good location in central Nottingham. Good room, staff out of their way to be helpful - I'd definitely go back. The overall experience was just rotten however. Sorry guys - not your fault just the response to this stupidity and your unfortunate place in it.

The staff have been very accommodating over my long stay, they have been very friendly and chatty when I have had some time free, but also considerate when I am in a rush. The rooms was met and exceeded my expectations was very comfortable and I have rebooked to stay there for my entire working period at Nottingham.

I booked a king room but was given a shoddy room with loose fixtures. The staff at the check in desk also made rude comments towards me when I offered to only pay in cash. This was unprofessional and disappointing.

Lovely room, terrible sleep

The room was very nice and spacious, loved the decor however had a few issues the sink got blocked everytime we used it, the nespresso machine water tank was gross inside so couldn't use it couple of the mirrors were dirty. I didn't mind too much about these things as we had been upgraded and the room was very nice. My main problem was the noise, I specifically stayed at a hotel so I could get a good night sleep however that didn't happen. The room wasnt very soundproof, all night a room nearby I heard heavy footsteps, doors opening, voices then door slamming. Im not sure if there was a staff room or someone kept ordering room service to the same room but it was constant and woke me up like every 20 minutes throughout the night it was extremely annoying. You'd think at 4 o clock in the morning you were going to a room you would be quiet but it was so loud. So overall I was dissapointed on the basis of an awful night sleep.

Great location and lovely staff

The hotel is in an ideal location for the town centre. Although there is no parking at the hotel itself, we used the Lace Market car park which is only a couple of minutes away and the hotel provides a discount for it. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel was clean and comfortable. The bedrooms were quirky and the hotel is steeped in history.

Room great, but missing extras and breakfast let it down.

Have stayed in this hotel 4/5 times before and always been excellent. This time however the extras stated on the room description such as bathrobes/slippers/water/complimentary soft drinks were not in the room on arrival and had to go to reception to find out why. Was given water and offered soft drinks but told robes and slippers not available due to covid restrictions, this seemed a little strange as towels still in room so surely robes could also be laundered the same way, and slippers sealed and single use only? I feel this information should have been given on booking to avoid disappointment or at least explained on check in. Breakfast was disappointing to, not given a menu just asked continental or cooked, not offered anything like fruit/cereal/yoghurts etc that are normally available, had to keep asking. Requested some pastries, had to wait 20 min and then brought only 2 mini ones. Requested some more milk for hot drinks which never came, felt like the staff didn’t really want to be there. We were also told on check in that we had to check out at 11am even though booking confirmation stated 12pm. When I queried this I was told 12 was fine, not sure why there was a difference and didn’t appreciate having to double check? I am aware that it is a very difficult time to operate a business due to the pandemic and all the restrictions surrounding it, but I think informing guests prior to arrival of changes to room facilities etc would help them manage expectations. I hope this is just a temporary blip and that the hotel will be back to its usual excellent standards that we have experienced previously.

Came for a weekend away somewhere we haven’t visited before, it definitely didn’t disappoint! The hotel is absolutely stunning and it is located perfectly in the city! The room was beautiful and 100% worth every penny, the bed was massive!! Perfect when your parter is 6ft 7! The staff where so welcoming and so helpful with any questions we had! Only down side was the fact the lift wasn’t working so we had to trek it up to the top floor but it’s exercise so that’s fine haha! Also the breakfast was tiny and didn’t get any other option other than a fry up but did taste good! Due to the current situation I think the hotel staff are dealing with it brilliantly and doing as best as they can keeping themselves and us visitors safe during our stay! I would 100% visit again!

Clean room, but noisy

Room was great. It was really noisy and the fire alarm went off twice. Not been paid my deposit back yet either after paying cash for both nights stay. Students were sat up the stair case which was dangerous for people going up and down the stairs.

Due to the bar on the ground floor ( not part of our business, managed and owned by a separate company ) when their alarm sounds it in turn triggers ours. It appears they had a fault which we have worked with them to have fixed due to the disturbance it caused our guests. I apologise once again for this disturbance. A pre authorisation was taken prior to you staying with us and then when paying cash the pre auth is released. This can take up to 5 working days to release. This totally depends upon your own bank as to when they will recognise this. Thank for for your kind and encouraging comments about your room and cleanliness standards which I will be sure to share with the housekeeping team. A mixed bag

Good hotel which I'd stayed in before, however, this time I had a Standard room (I think they call it a 'City Room' or something similar) which was extremely small for two people to and the one we stayed with had an air conditioning unit the size of a small van outside the window which didn't shut down at all, meaning that sleep was intermittent even with the window closed and earplugs in. Previous room was overlooking the street and was spacious, quite and comfortable, and would warrant a solid 'five' for sleep quality and room categories ....you get what you pay for. Staff and location excellent regardless.

Lovely old Nottingham institution but a stay there involves hopping from fault to fault. A culture of careless management presides, sadly. Small faults, none fatal, but the devil is in the accumulation. At the exorbitant cost, and the pretence of a 4 star standard, this matters

Quiet night, good breakfast but not a lot else

The hotel is not easy to access by car. We parked in NCP 5 mins walk. Pleasant staff at check in. Room was small and a bit small and tired looking. Noisy aircon. We turned off the aircon and slept very well. Central location but no noise. Breakfast was really good but could have been a few degrees hotter. Not a very inspiring place but Ok for a night.

Here at Mercure Nottingham we have a range of room grades. Our smallest room grades are our City Pad rooms and Standard Kings with our Privilege rooms and Suites being the largest. We highly recommend our Privilege rooms and Suites to any guest where space is of great importance. I am very sorry to hear you found the AC to be too noisy and thank you for bringing this to my attention. I will have our maintenance team investigate this and remedy any issue found. I also thank you for your thoughts on breakfast and the temperature which I will share with the breakfast team. Your feedback is very well received and will assist me in my ongoing efforts to improve our quality of service and product standards.
