Stayed here whilst away with work. Unfortunately the room was not clean - there was dirt in the shower and a layer of grime and dust on the walls in the bathroom. There was also signs of damp in the bathroom and the mirror in the bathroom was cracked. The room is incredibly small and dark, with only a small window to let in any light. There was very little wardrobe space with just a small rail to put about 4 items of clothing on. There was also graffiti on the walls. My colleagues room was similar and some of her walls were covered in mould. The rooms were disgusting and I’m glad I only had to stay one night. Only saving grace was that customer service was good as was the breakfast, but rooms clearly need a refresh and a deep clean. I’d also recommend not using the stoney street car park if staying here - there’s no lift and the smell will make you sick.

You know you are in trouble when there are ear plugs put by your bedside! Noisy hotel but more so some real basics were missing. One tea bag between two, desk lamps not working, shower gel bottle empty, the shower must have been designed for people under 5ft, combined with low water pressure made the showering experience very uncomfortable. What once was a fantastic bar has now been changed into a first floor tiny bar with little options of drinks - it's no bigger than the room you'll be staying in.

I am very sorry they had not identified the product in the room having been empty or indeed only having one tea bad. I apologise once again for this. I further apologise for the desk light not having worked in the room. I have already shared this feedback with our maintenance team who have asked me to pass on their own personal apology. They will also be looking into the water pressure issue you mention. I am very sorry should you have felt the choice of drinks in our bar on the first floor to not have met your expectations. While we do have a variety of spirits, wines and beers available along with soft drinks, I am sorry that a drink of your preference was not available. At Mercure, we strive to provide a superior service experience for every customer; therefore your feedback is very important to us. Upon arrival, we were informed that we had been upgraded as we had booked a city pad (which on booking.com sounded quite spacious but was upgraded as we were staying all weekend! The staff were lovely, especially the gentleman on reception who checked us in and the bar staff! The theme of the room was what we had hoped for from the images although could do with a little touch up on the paintwork as it was peeling in places. Breakfast was lovely, lots of choices and the young man in the breakfast room was very attentive. Only slight complaint about breakfast were the mushrooms, way over seasoned and ruined the taste of everything else, far too much pepper! Overall, a lovely stay, would recommend and would definitely stay again!
