We had a fabulous experience with the staff at the Mercure Cairns. Miki went above and beyond every day for us to find reservations, get restaurant suggestions, and took care of any issue with our room. Patricia in the restaurant made sure we enjoyed each night’s happy hour. Stephen went above and beyond to ensure an issue with our room’s smoke detector was handled quickly so we were not too inconvenienced.

I was forced due to internet and phone issues to make 2 seperate bookings in 2 seperate levels of room (1 standard and one premium). When I was able to contact the hotel, I asked if we could link the bookings, which was fine. As a gold level loyalty member, I would have thought that my upgrade would be applied to the standard room. To my surprise, I was placed in the standard booked room and DOWNGRADED to the standard room for my premium booking. And to top it all off, there was no housekeeping service on a Sunday, the last day of our 3 day stay. Loyalty obviously doesn’t mean much anymore. I shall consider this when I need to book another stay in Cairns.

Regarding housekeeping, you would have received a welcome letter upon arrival, which outlines that our service on Sundays is limited to towel and garbage changes.
