Excellent location but needs better soundproofing

Excellent location in the CBD near Southern Cross station, tram stops and Skybus, Woolworths and 7-Eleven just across the road and the bigger Coles supermarket near the station. There are a number of restaurants nearby, Indian restaurant next door, Nandos, and rare steakhouse 300m away. The continental breakfast was ok, with coffee machine, fruit juices, toast, pastries, cereals, melons, peaches, yogurt, I particularly liked the pancake machine. You can have a cooked breakfast by paying extra. There is also a gym and laundry room but I didn’t use. My room was spacious with a safe, fridge, AC, tea/coffee, iron. I would have preferred if the shower had a hand held head rather than a fixed one. The only issue I had is that the room was not soundproof, the walls are very thin I could hear the guests talking in the next room, talking in the corridors, I was on the second floor and I could hear the noise from the pub downstairs even with the window fully shut.

The hotel is in a really great location, one street back from Spencer St train station, making it easy to get to from the airport or if travelling by long-distance train. It's also very close to the Bourke St Woolworths Metro for any last-minute groceries or items and there are many restaurants nearby for easy eating. The Wi-Fi was a bit spotty, however, overall it was very clean, quiet and a great place to base yourself to explore Melbourne.

I recently stayed at the Ibis Kingsgate Melbourne and unfortunately, it wasn't the best experience. While the room was updated and included facilities such as a hairdryer, iron and kettle the rest of the hotel was not great. The window in my room had no view and I had to use an app to work out what the weather was like! The room itself was extremely cramped. I couldn’t open my case properly on the floor and had to jump over it to get into bed. The thin walls meant that noise from neighbouring rooms and the corridor was very audible which affected my sleep. Although some areas had been updated the communal spaces still felt dated and tired. The reception area and foyer were particularly unwelcoming. Unfortunately, I would not choose to stay here again.

Budget hotel, very good location, right at central business district. walking distant to almost every where, room is little small compare to simulator hotel in N. America. Can consider to book the room with the breakfast.

Central and good value for a short stay

Centrally located, easy walk to the Convention Centre and Bourke Street Mall. Rooms are small and mine had a tiny window looking out to brick walls, however spotless and fine as we were out all day and I was on my own. Good value with breakfast , definitely stay again.
