3 course meal spa break was actually an awful ‘buffet’ and fire alarms going off through the night with no apologies or explanation.

Building tired and room boiling

We booked this hotel as a treat instead of our usual go to Premier Inn. The hotel is showing its age now and it will have to up it's game with a Raddison opening across the road. The staff are really welcoming and friendly we got our cards to go to our room on the 3rd floor 314 , the room was very large but dated and the aircon did not work as the control panel had a blanking plate on it. This being the hottest day of the year we went back to reception and they moved us to the top floor room 606 telling us the aircon definitely worked in this room. The room was a lot more modern than the first room but the view a bit limited but not really a problem unlike the aircon! It was blowing so set the temperature and went out for the evening when we got back it was still 26.5 0c ! Worst night sleep I've ever had, not once went under the duvet when I finally got up at 9.30 it was now 27 0c ! .I was sweating that much I didn't use the shower as I probably have trouble drying off, we left 2 hours early and on leaving the room we noticed straight away that the hallway was actually cooler. Wish we had stayed where we were on floor 3 as the room seemed cooler or the Premier Inn.

well located for the snooker, but in need of a refurb, bedrooms very basic and not welcoming no better than s Premier Innn

Security issues

Very concerned with security levels at the hotel. Lifts completely accessible by anyone. The hotel needs a card system that allows only guests to access floors. Stairs also accessible to anyone. Outside hotel lots of undesirable activity homeless drug dealers. Quite worrying for female guests. Car parking needs to be sorted. Rooms need attention as they look old and tired.
