Staying at the Novotel Bandung hotel makes me and our family really enjoy the comfortable atmosphere and the friendliness of the serving staff. With loyalty members, we always get a free room upgrade and add to our happy feelings during we stay.
Good covid protocol in the hotel

I noticed Novotel Bandung has upgraded their health protocol during the pandemic. Every guest is served during breakfast and the variety of the menus are not reduced. The staffs (front office, restaurants and house keeping) are very friendly and helpful.

Novotel Bandung give best experience to our family. Good service and stay. All the member staff are full of smile and warm hospitality. Food also good enough ( you should try Banana Fried at the Resto)
Need Improvement on Covid-19 Protocol

The location is excellent since at the center of Bandung city, so near to several famous venue in Bandung, but need lot of improvement on Covid-19 protocol implementation, like no one from hotel remind a guy that not using mask in the lobby and lift. At the restaurant, people still can touch some items, so possible to transfer the virus, like drinking glass and the water dispenser. Maybe can implement another hotel practice that I visited last month in Jakarta, just give all visitors small drink bottle, so after drink visitors can put it away in trash bin. So that's why my family and me only take breakfast on 1st day only, the rest buy breakfast from outside. Just minimize visitors touching lot of items at the restaurant. Just gave them what they want. More simple. Like put food in small bowl so visitors can take it away and minimize queue also. And last but not least, need improvement on quality/taste of the food.
Clean But Need some Refurbishment

After a long time staying elsewhere, I came back to Novotel Bandung for 1 night of business trip. The hotel was usually fully-booked due to conference or other events in normal condition. So finding the hotel was finally available with reasonable rate, I chose Novotel as I had a good memory staying there many years ago. Location is excellent as it is centrally located to most destinations, yet in an area that is not crowded and easily accessible without going through traffic jam. The parking space is spacious with good air circulation (for Ground level, didn't try the Basement). Getting to the Lobby or elevator to room floors from the parking space require a bit of walk, passing through the hotel's restaurant. Lobby is spacious but no seating was available (perhaps due to Covid situation?). But the Lobby and passage area could definitely benefit from additional lighting as it felt a bit dim. I booked a Premier Room, which in reality is the same room as a Superior Room. The only additional benefit given was a minibar (which I have to specially inquired, as it was empty when I first entered the room) and an airport transport (not needed for domestic traveler using car). Definitely not worth the price difference and the staff need further training to prepare the room well. The room is spacious, clean and everything functions well. Although it does feel dated with design from early 2000s. The most annoying thing of the room is the chair, in which they put a chair normally used in mass for ballroom. Really feel out of touch and albeit the still good condition, renders the room felt broken and patched. Definitely nothing feels premium as the room category should. The towels are placed in the Bathroom wrapped in plastic bag, which ease the feeling in the current situation. The restaurant offers good food during dinner and good selection during breakfast (especially during this Covid situation). The staffs were friendly and attentive, both during food serving and table attending with cutlery set given in plastic bag wrapping. Although again, it could definitely benefit from additional lighting to make the ambient brighter. The most downside is lack of recognition for loyal member especially during check-in process in the evening. A drink voucher was given, but that's all. Overall, Novotel Bandung has its potential. But with the competition and the current lack of demand, a better staff training and plan for refurbishment is definitely needed.
