Hotel needs a facelift

Staff really friendly and nice but the hotel now rather shabby. The front of the vanity unit in the bathroom fell off, there was a gap between the window sill and the window and some items fell in and the carpet was stained.

We're glad to hear that our staff was responsive to your needs, providing a replacement for the items that fell. Regarding the noise issue, we apologise for the inconvenience. We're sorry to hear about the condition of the room, including the front of the vanity unit falling off, the gap between the window sill, and the stained carpet. We cannot deny the dated general condition of our rooms and their dated features, being 103 years old. This hotel is due for closure with the intention of redeveloping the property in early 2025. We appreciate your understanding and insights, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for a more positive experience in the future. Water was cold in shower, fridge had previous guests left over food, hotel hallways stank, and that building is a serious fire risk. Receptionist were helpful.

I was disappointed to learn there is no longer a restaurant nor a bar area so you can socialise. I feel these are a requirement of a good hotel and need to be re-established.

While I'm pleased to read you found our staff friendly and location great, it however saddened me to read that you had some inconveniences regarding our facilities. The hotel has undergone a name change and re-branding not a long ago. We have permanently closed our restaurant down indefinitely since Covid-19, this was not a decision made lightly. We really apologise for being unable to offer you such facilities this time. I am truly sorry if your stay did not meet full expectations, however it is our hope that we can have the opportunity to welcome you back in the near future. Well located but run down hotel

A bad impression from the time we stepped out of the lift to the dirty carpets that were not only worn but extremely filty. The room carpet was disgusting as I mentioned to the desk person on check out. If we had been staying longer would have moved to another hotel. You could have an amazing hotel if more care and cleanliness was done. Very disappointed was looking forward to staying but won't stay next time.

The hotel is well located however it is very run down. The carpet smelt and was significantly stained.

While I'm pleased to read you found our staff friendly and location great, it however saddened me to read that was all you liked about your stay with us. We were saddened to read that your room and the hotel was not up to expectations as while we are unable to deny the general condition of the room and hotel given its age, the hotel conducted a de-branding exercise in 2021 by removing the Mercure brand and returning the hotel to its original name the Grosvenor Hotel Adelaide to enable us to reposition it as an economy hotel in the twilight of its existence as the intention is to completely redevelop the property in the not-too-distant future. Your remarks about the carpets have been referred to our management team for review and appropriate follow-up.
