Booked a flexible rate room but get charged for cancellation

I booked a room at Novotel Paris Centre Tour Eiffel from 13th Sept to 22th Sept 2022. I booked the room with a flexible rate, paid with Credit Card. Just in case something came up and I could not travel to Paris, I could cancel the room at anytime without getting charge with any penalties (according to the hotel website). Long story short, I need to cancel the reservation, so I cancelled it through their website. However, after a few days, a refund has not been returned to my credit card, so I contacted their reservation team. Keiko replied my email informing me when the funds is returned to my CC. Later on, I found out that I did not receive a full amount but a difference of almost 120 Euros. Very disspaointed.

We specifically made various requests while booking, but none of those were addressed. We sent multiple emails while staying there but didn’t receive responses. The housekeeping services were erratic and ineffective. Also, we didn’t receive a room with no view of the Eiffel Tower and no explanation why we were denied such a room. The breakfast was hearty but always repetitive throughout our stay. The hotel has no room service but this didn’t come out clearly from the website. We were also unable to access the swimming pool despite requests at the reception. The hotel lacks mobility, we had to carry a child’s pram stroller through the escalator from ground floor to first floor every day which was not ideal either.

Hotel is ranked as four star hotel but barely achieves two stars.. Why, well only good thing is location.. Rooms are dirty, e.g., I have never seen as dirty floor mats than in this hotel renovated rooms have.. Cleaning is not done properly but you find hairs from other rooms ir previous guest on your bathroom floor.. Endless queues to bad quality breakfast.. Rooms electric plug-ins do not work and nobody repairs. Really bad hotel, best to avoid and take something else. Uuh, will never go this hotel again..

it was one of the worse expeirence i ever had , they didn't find my booking , i showed them the e- mail with the confirmation of the booking and the payment confirmation with the ref number but stillthey didn't find my booking the delay to solve this problem took about one houre , the room was small , the toilet not inside the bathroom , the bath was leaking water and i have inform the reception and they didn't send anypne to look or repaire it , next day on the night the key was not working and red light appeared so i went to the reception and they told me i have checked out in the morning and they've given the room to other customer ,i was very angery it was late in the night and i told them how i still have the key if i checked out this morning , again this problem took about one hour to solved out , in the last day i checked out , they asked me to pay a long list of a bill , i have't buoght anything from the resturant or from thr bar , so i refused to pay , they never checked the room number with the customer , so it was a very bad communication and service , i will recommoned it to anyone

Great location and staff. In need of more elevator and breakfast buffet capacity.

I was aware of the mixed reviews on this site before I booked, but this was a fairly last minute booking and there wasn't much else available that fit our needs for our 3 night family trip to Paris. All in all, I'm glad we picked the Novotel Paris Eiffel Tower. Let me start by conforming some of the negatives mentioned by other reviewers. There is a mismatch between the number of guests and the hotel's facilities. In short, there are way too many guests relative to the size of the underground parking lot, the number of reception stations, the number of elevators and the capacity at the breakfast buffer. We spent a long time waiting for the elevators to come, and in some cases decided to walk up or down the stairs to our room on the 15th because it was still faster than waiting for the next available elevator. Also, there were very long lines for the breakfast buffet. A specific negative in our case: because 3 in our family have celiac disease and need to eat strictly gluten free, I had sent the hotel an email asking them to confirm they have gluten free bread or other breakfast options available (other reviewers here stated they don't always!), but that email went unanswered. I then called, but my first call was hung up after having been on hold for a few minutes, and when I finally spoke to someone the 2nd time, my request was sort of brushed off, and I was told to ask the breakfast staff and that there was nothing they could do to ensure it was available ahead of time. I expect better from a hotel that says it's a 4* hotel. During breakfast, we asked for gluten free bread and fortunately they did have it, and they brought us regular slices of gluten free bread as well as pre-packaged rolls/madeleines that were supposedly gluten free. Long story short; turned out those pre-packaged rolls they gave us were NOT gluten free. Later that morning both my wife and son had to throw up violently because of their body's reaction to the gluten, and they felt sick for a few more hours afterward. Now obviously this is bad. That said, I should compliment the Food and Beverage manager for how they handled it when we let them know about this incident. While initially they denied the pre-packaged rolls they gave us had gluten, they later had to admit they accidently gave us the wrong rolls. They made up for it in a very professional way, and during the rest of the stay the wait staff made it clear they had learned about this incident and they took very good care of us afterward. All in all we were pleased with our stay. Mistakes can happen and we're very happy with the professional way the hotel handled this.
