Absolutely awful - do not stay here!!

The entry level is pleasant making you think you're in for a lovely stay. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the 3rd floor. The carpets throughout are stained and unpleasant. We were allocated room 344. Our first impression is that it was a strange lay out. The toilet is in a separate room, with no basin. Feels like a cell with a very helpful gap under the door so that your room mate can hear (and smell) everything! That aside, the room itself was tired and in need of maintenance. The plug in the bathroom was broken. The shelf in the shower had come off the wall. To find that the TV was not working was the final straw. We spoke to a lovely receptionist who moved us next door to room 342. Unfortunately the lights in that room were not working - in fact some of them appeared to be held together with sticking tape. Another trip to reception resulted in move to room 340. The lights and TV worked fine but the toilet leaked. Frankly, at this point it was 9.30pm and we'd lost the will to live really! When we checked out, we said again that we weren't very happy with our room and the receptionist told us that you are in the process of a refurbishment, so you clearly know a refresh is needed. How dare you then expect us to pay for such a substandard room. Add to that the fact that Novotel clearly care so little about their customers that ignoring 4 emails is acceptable.

We’ve stayed at this hotel as a group work booking a number of times and have always had trouble with the night staff member, Patricia. For the last 2/4 visits, Patricia has been on the reception desk and has caused no end of problems. The initial time, it was nothing to do with us, we were just sat downstairs as we’d just finished work at 3am and she was arguing with people outside as the security staff member had grabbed a girl around the throat allegedly, and Patricia was running around shouting how she would be taking everyone to court. She was swearing and said to one of the girls who was shouting at her that god would punish her. This last visit, new years. Was ridiculous. First of all after she verbally assaulted my friend in front of the security guard who did nothing (and was honestly like something out of a comedy sketch he just kept wandering round making noises like he was in pain everytime someone spoke) I asked for her name. She refused to give her name and I told her I would be making a complaint so legally I did require her name, she refused to give it and when I asked the security guard for it she stopped serving the other customer and shouted to him not to give it. He then ran off to the bathroom scared. Unfortunately for Patricia, they had a clock in sheet. I’d already paid George for my parking space so was aware of his name, it didn’t take a genius to work out who she was. I then asked her to provide me with the email for the complaint now that I had her name. She flew out from behind reception and followed back over to my friends stating that I have threatened to take her to court and was trying to get her fired. She called me a liar and was very aggressive in her shouting. She suggested I referred to myself as a lawyer (the only law I referred to was providing her name in a complaint situation, did nothing to state that was my profession). I asked her multiple times to just leave the situation but she carried on with her aggressive shouting until we eventually couldn’t take anymore and just decided to go to bed. Haven’t worked out to submit a formal complaint over the last 5 days as the website seems to do it’s best to stop you from doing that. And to add insult to injury, there was slices of pizza folded up inside the sofa bed which was the majority of my complaint and she did nothing but shout at me and refused to talk to me, all I asked for initially was a change of room. Honestly disgusting.

4 women from Australia travelling. Rooms adequate, beds comfy, good breakfast choices, nice bar and good food in dining room. Alll amenities only thing needing attention was shower which needed upgrade. Plenty of heat.

My daughter and I stayed at this hotel, so that we could go to a concert at the O2, my daughter was so excited to go here and the staff at the hotel went above and beyond to accommodate us. They made sure our room was ready and sorted for when we arrived, the room was lovely and my daughter was surprised with an extra special gift in the room. The reception staff were friendly, helpful and nothing was too much for them. The breakfast was great, loads to choose from and delicious. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Honestly the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in- no idea how this hotel has a 4/5 rating! Carpets are stained and old, walls and ceilings were dirty (dread to think what with). Fridge light was flashing on and off all night and no door in door so very disturbing when trying to sleep. Wardrobe wasn’t full height and had no door either- my coat was hung up but still touching the floor. Bathroom was tired and grotty. Very basic amenities in the room- not even a teaspoon for tea/coffee! Just generally felt unclean and tired with cheap furniture- like horrible student accommodation. All this for just shy of £300 for 1 night, absolutely scandalous!
