Central, Clean, Welcoming

We only stayed for 1 night (me, hubby and 14 yr old daughter) but it was a wonderful stay, the staff were very welcoming when we arrived and we were able to check in by 1pm. The room was spacious enough considering we had two double beds and the shower was great, plenty of hot water and clean. Most importantly it was very central to all the main attractions of Geneva, shops and bars. The hotel sent us a city pass prior to arrival by email (we booked via booking.com) which allowed us free passage on the yellow boats from one end of the lake to the other. Catch the m1 or m2 boats to get to the flower clock and Jet D’eau. These boats arrive every few minutes and are a great way to travel across the lake and with the pass they are free! The pass also allows you to get from the airport train into Geneva centre within minutes. I would certainly stay here again as it was everything we required, they even held onto luggage for us for two days whilst we headed to Annecy for a couple of days. (From Geneva we had booked a blabla bus to Annecy in France 🇫🇷 checkout my review of the stay there)

Rude staff and basic rooms. A bad combination

The front desk staff at this hotel is rude and unhelpful. I arrived at check in time and the person behind the desk, Elisabeth told me that if I wanted a room facing the street I would have to wait a couple of hours. The back side of the hotel has horrible views and it is quite depressing. A nicer view (in comparison to the back) is not much to ask when one is paying over 350 euros for a basic room. I had to involve the manager and it turned into an ugly thing. A better, more professional approach to hospitality or retraining for this staff is perhaps in order. The hotel and rooms are average at best and I only stay here because worked booked me here. I will avoid this place in the future.

Great experience for the price

The area in which this hotel is located tends to have the best hotel prices in Geneva--it's centrally located near the lake AND the train station, however, the neighbourhood is more shabby compared to more expensive areas of Geneva. That said, the hotel itself is run by helpful, friendly staff, and the rooms are modern and air-conditioned. There are blackout curtains, which is great for families, and an on-site restaurant that serves cocktails. We found the staff to be VERY responsive and would definitely stay here again.
