An average stay at a standard Ibis

My wife and I spent two nights in the Ibis at Ellerslie in Auckland. It was an absolutely standard Ibis found throughout the world, which was OK as we knew what to expect in the hotel. The hotel was totally full the first night because of a major concert in Auckland but most of those left the following morning.

This hotel was over priced...I was charged double what it was worth considering its tiny size and very basic capsule bathroom. (reminded me of a backpackers double room) The internet didn't work either. The bed was comfy enough though, and staff were fine.

In a hotel room we look for a really good bed, a good shower/bath and good service. The Ibis was all of these albeit many will think the ablutions cubicle somewhat constricting , nevertheless it’s functional the shower is roomy, hot and great pressure. BUT what outshone all else was the superb service from the team on the bar and restaurant service last evening. Without exception they surpassed our every expectation of service. Fabulous team Ibis please let them know how great they were.

Classic Ibis - but quite a large room. You are paying for no frills (eg toiletries) - but I found the standard of the room good, clean and staff nice (they are same staff as Novetel which is in the same building). I would be fine staying for a few nights here - this was only a one nighter. Great access to motorways - easy parking ($15/night), and close to town. You don't get what you don't pay for.

The totally worst hotel ive ever spent in my life! I mean the TV cuts in and our like a third world country, it's so unbelievable, the gym is above rooms, so you're welcome to noise at 6am!! Bar bells dumping on the floor ffs!
