Hi all just a quick one here. First stay ever at this Mercure in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Parking up Chinatown on Russell st same parking as for the Hyde. $24 a night and only a short stroll down to hotel. There is 5 min parking out front if needed. Room and hotel touch dated but got a room upgrade as platinum to top floor and everything functional. Welcome drinks at Blossoms next door at the Pullman grabbed a pizza no problem. Great staff all round. Very busy hotel. Hi to reception staff Lisa, Julian and Anish. Had a wonderful chat with the chef at Blossoms Mr Edan! Hi to Angie, Sofia and Beth your all legends. You made my welcome drinks and pizza order too easy. Highlight staff member was Ms Karen at breakfast I see why you are supervisor and your attention to detail and looking after Accor members was very very appreciated. Breakfast was good, everything you need pretty much there. Overall I was very well looked after as Platinum and at the right price for a functional space in the heart of Melbourne the Mercure Welcome does the trick

Lacks Service, care and maintenance

I have stayed at this hotel probably 15 - 16 times due to its location. The experience has never been outstanding but you for go the minor details in return for the convenient location. Unfortunately my stay there this year was dismal and will be my last. Their iron ruined a dress shirt I was about to wear. It was unfortunately full of rust and obviously lacking care/ maintenance, yep I know this can happen. However after this occurred I rang the front desk, I was hung up on 6 times ( I assume due to how busy they were) I rang house keeping 4 times, however there was no answer. I then took the iron down stair and lined up for 25 minutes at which point I was told they would get a new iron brought to my room and would have a manager call me to discuss the damage. 20 minutes later I had a knock at the door with staff delivering a wine glass, I explained I need an iron desperately as I am now late for dinner. 5-10 minutes later I received a replacement iron. I was hoping the manager would contact me to arrange to have house keeping clean the shirt and inturn hopefully be able to save it. I was promised on several occasions that a manager would call me. This has never occurred. This incident did occur at a busy time of the year, however due to this I did have to pay a premium to be there. As a customer there I understand that peak periods can increase response times. However as a customer I have still paid for a service and definitely deserve better than the disregard I have received. It's not hard to do the right thing, We never know when something on a trip may go wrong, but when it does you atleast want to stay somewhere that will reach and assist.

filthy room and unhygenic

Disgusted with my 3 night stay . Checked in to room 0422 and was greeted with a filthy un vacumed dirty carpet . The bathroom shower was full of mould and had a musty smell. the aircon rattled so loudly that is was difficult to sleep. I had to ask reception for towels every morning along with a request t o have bins emptied .The corridor was also dirty and needed a good clean. And had to make up my own bed !Staff were pleasant and the location is the only aspect that was pleasing. I can see from other reviews that management replies just state that they will do better next time but clearly not much changes. For the amount of money paid for 3 nights i expect a decent clean room for health. Do not book this hotel very dirty.

The Welcome Mercure, located near Chinatown, is a hotel with a high price tag relative to the services and room size offered. 👍 The Positives The location is exceptional. Situated in the heart of the CBD, everything is within easy walking distance. 👎 The Drawbacks • Noise and Size: The hotel is on a very busy street, and noise can be an issue. The rooms are very small, offering limited space for movement. • Housekeeping: Room cleaning is provided only after every three nights, which is surprising and inconvenient. • Service Delays: While fresh towels are available upon request, delivery by staff takes an excessively long time. It is advisable to place requests directly at the reception before leaving the hotel for the day. • Breakfast: The breakfast is decent but limited, operating on a complete self-service model. Guests must even collect their own cutlery, which feels below standard for the price point. • Membership: My Accor membership benefits were not honored during the stay.

I travel 25-30 nights a year for work, never have I stayed in a hotel this noisy. I was five doors down from the elevator yet it rumbled my room all night. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything your neighbour is saying and doing. The rooms were ok and location is good, but there are plenty of better options.
