The Mercure is in a great location, easy walk from Southern Cross Station or you can get the free tram to Bourke Street Mall. Rooms weren’t serviced but there was a sign advising of this. Room was big enough and everything worked. Lifts do fill quickly so allow time.

Melbourne is very beautiful city and mercure welcome central hotel is best choice because it’s located heart ❤️ of Melbourne. Neat and clean rooms breakfast is so good overall i am happy and view of big buildings in my room window is amazing

Dissapointing stay in overpriced room

Husband and I travelled to Melbourne to attend a function. Checked in online before we got to the hotel which seems to be a complete waste of time. Check in desk is wedged in under some stairs and the whole reception area looks temporary with walls that appear to have been put in place while something else happened but never taken down. Our room (424) was one of the worst rooms I have ever encountered, if this is the standard of Mercure then I won't stay at a Mercure again. The room was small and felt claustrophobic with odd angled walls throughout. The wardrobe, which also contained a fridge and tea/coffee items, looked like something from an Ikea sale. There was one small window which overlooked a lightwell but the bathroom, which appears to be an afterthought, was blocking 2 thirds of the window so no natural light in the room. The bathroom was tiny but very clean. On the plus side the shower was hot with excellent water pressure. The airconditioning roared very loudly but had no choice to have it on as it was the only way of getting any air. The breakfast we had was average but kept running out of items, there seemed to be no proactive approach to keeping everything topped up. The best feature of this hotel is its location. A couple of steps from Swanston Street means that you can walk most of the city with ease. The free city trams provide a quick way of getting from Southern Cross station to the hotel, 5 minutes walk from the tram stop. For the price we paid and the quality of the hotel I would not stay here agin. It is overpriced and lacking the space/quality I expect of a Mercure. Maybe change it to an Ibis Budget to better manage expectations?

Bad service at Louden Breakfast

Louden Breakfast buffet had a rude member serving who was either tired or had absolutely no customer service skills. The female worker presented with a lack of professionalism and given it was day after Melbourne cup, the worker seemed unimpressed by this after a member of our group expressed their positive experience and quoted, “I don’t do that”. We had breakfast the day before at this location and had no problem with the male servant.. I won’t be coming back after the rude and unprofessional service delivery by the worker concerned.

After 3 days of trying to change the date of my stay after umpteen calls being told to call back or just not answered at all. Told to email a person that has no authority to help I am now $600 out of pocket because my stay date has passed. The customer service that I have been shown these last 3 days has been the worst I have ever experienced. Taking $600 from a customer and telling them there is nothing you can do is never true there is always something that can be done, a change of date, a credit to come another time, but no taking $600 for nothing and make the little guy feel even smaller.
