This is the third year my husband and I have gone to the Australian Open and the third different hotel we've booked. The reason for this is that we were only partially satisfied with the other two and each had its share of problems. Not so with the Novotel. We loved it. From the comfort of the room, view, and amenities to a superb full breakfast buffet, every aspect ran like a well-oiled machine. We were also able to get different pillows on request, which made all the difference in my quality of sleep. Customer service was impeccable, and a special shout out to breakfast management and staff. They were run ragged every morning and handled it all like true professionals. Hotel is centrally located for all the arcades, laneways and shopping, and an easy walk for us to the AO event or water taxi. We'll definitely be staying here again next year.

I was travelling on my own and asked for the highest room possible and Novotel delivered! Top floor with a magic view of Collins St. Upon arrival I was given the best Gold membership amenity of wine and rocky road. Lifts havent worked efficiently any time i have been there but you can rack up some steps using the stairs too. Good breakfast, wonderful cocktails and friendly staff. Extremely well located and the concierges on the ground floor are so welcoming

Poor internet

The issue with this hotel is it has a good location in Melbourne, but it has issues with restricted access at busy times, poor internet access and the lifts are unreliable ( waited 15 minutes for a lift when departing the hotel).

Better than expected

Booked for two nights for a visit to the city before Christmas. The day before we left I read some of the reviews so I was somewhat anxious on arriving at the hotel. I should not have worried though because everything was fine and I would certainly visit again. Checking in was quick with an extremely friendly staff member. We had arrived early and were given our room before check in time, which was great. All the staff we dealt with were friendly and welcoming. Lifts were efficient, no problems with wait time. The hotel is dated, mainly the hallways but the room was spacious and clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Location is fabulous with a couple of arcades leading to Bourke Street, which was helpful for us given one day it was raining. Flinders Street station is also a quick walk, about seven minutes. Both days we ate breakfast and dinner at the hotel, service was good with lovely staff. The only negative was the cleanliness of the toilets near the bar. It was a very busy few days so it could be an idea for these facilities to be checked regularly.

Worst Accor property ever! I’d never return to this place

Being a loyal Accor Gold member, I decided to stay with family to celebrate our birthday at this property. Upon checking the reception staff Raul was so rude he didn’t even recognise our membership, I am pretty sure if we had called in advance about the occasion surely it should have flashed on their screen to atleast open your mouth and twist it a little to say two words “happy birthday”, well instead this rude staff with a dead expression asked for and stuck on a ID. I understand it might be a policy but if I were him I would have said this politely in a different way. Anyway we went to our room and there was no bottle or card as planned in advance so I had to run down to the reception again as no one would pick up the phone at the reception, upon asking for this, we get another rude and unprofessional response that “amenities are provided at around 4pm”, I mean seriously? Is this the way you would respond? I am baffled at this hotel and the behaviour I am being presented with again and again… anyway I went back to the room and called room service to request some plates, spoons and a knife for the cake, to this the staff says “there is a $4 charge if we deliver to the room”, I said never mind I’ll run down to the reception as it’s only a birthday nothing important, he said sure and hangs up…. I have no f … idea what else to say as I am appalled with this behaviour, ruined evening and horrendous experience at this hotel. I hope we aren’t charged for breathing in this property but we will find out tomorrow. I really feel hesitant to ask any help from this team here, who knows if they will ask for money for doing subtle things here. I’d say stay away from this hell.
