Always an impressive stay at the Pullman Melbourne City Central

It has been almost eleven months since our last stay at this lovely hotel. Once again it is the staff who made our stay so pleasant and enjoyable. The executive lounge always excels as it did once again this visit. The lovely Waralee, made us so welcome, advising us of the new dining options in the lounge on Sundays and Mondays along with the offerings from Blossoms bar On the floor below. We were so grateful to Waralee for also making sure that my wife, who is a coeliac, had some excellent offerings during cocktail hour to go with her glass of wine. The hot and cold food offerings were very generous and well presented along with being very flavoursome. We had read on earlier postings that some guests were disappointed that there was now only a selection of wines and soft drinks available. We thought the wine offered in the lounge was very generous and saw no reason for complaint. It is disappointing that some guests find fault in what is kindly and generously provided in the lounges, it should be noted that there are only three lounge offerings in Melbourne for platinum members of ACCOR. The Pullman on the Park and Sofitel on Collins street being the other two from my understanding. Breakfast in the lounge was as we remember. With a varied menu offering both a buffet and a la carte menu selection where even Tattinger champagne is available. Once again it was the wonderful warm welcome from staff that made our time so enjoyable during breakfast. We were met by Ralph who remembered us from our earlier stays and went out of his way to make sure we had all we needed. He is such a kind gentleman! This is an excellent hotel. Even during the busiest times of the year, such as during our current stay in January, in the midst of the Australian Open, our welcome at reception and in the hotel proper, we could not have been made more welcoming. During our stay the hotel was fully booked and yet we felt that our custom was appreciated and valued. Our room was very comfortable and the hotel being full we had no expectation of an upgrade as diamond members of ACCOR. Nor did it matter. Our room was excellent. The bed comfortable, the bathroom large and perfect for our needs. Tea and coffee making facilities are available and a fully stocked fridge and mini bar on offer if required. Thank you must also go to the management who checked in on us prior to arrival and during our stay to let us know they were available should we need anything. The gift on arrival was appreciated but never an expectation from us. Thank you! As you can see we are very pleased to have returned to the Pullman Melbourne City Central and can only encourage others to take criticisms in reviews with some care. The hotel seems to have received some less than positive reviews for adjusting the lounge offerings in the evenings, which we felt were unjustified during our stay, where we were more than happy to have the opportunity for a quiet drink overlooking the city of Melbourne whilst also enjoying the warm and cold food offerings so generously provided. We will be returning and so pleased to have taken less positive reviews with a grain of salt. This is an excellently located hotel where the entire team are clearly working hard to make their guests comfortable. We for one are grateful.

We enjoy staying at Pullman city centre as in a great location, always book executive lounge as the staff service and food excellent, lucky to receive upgrade also, only disappointment we were charged for a bottle of wine we did not drink but this cost was refunded so all good.

Room would have been good if the air con worked properly...

The Pullman Melbourne City Centre is well located right in the centre of shopping and many eateries. Our room was spacious and fit 2 queen beds and thankfully we were positioned away from the road so noise wasn't an issue. I'm leaving 2 stars because the air con in the room kept playing up by turning on and off, think every minute or two.. and on the very last night - every 10 seconds. This meant clicking noises and the light on the display flashing on and off continually, not to mention the room being stuffy. For us, a hotel is for sleeping in and for that it didn't do a good job. We mentioned it to reception during the morning as we were heading out and they said they'd send someone to take a look. When we got back at night time the issue was still there and we're not sure anyone even came to take a look. Called up reception and they said they'd send someone, but we waited an hour and no one came. I tried calling again but no pick up and just gave up as it was already past midnight and my daughter needed to sleep. For reference this is room 617 - so if anyone gets that room, make sure they check the air con straight away and complain if its faulty.

Great location for eating and Shopping

The Pullman is in a great location, right on the corner of Little Bourke St. and Swanson St. You can easily walk to any inner city location or hop on a tram if you’re tired. The hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly. Shout out to Felicia and Cindy in the breakfast room for their extra friendly greeting each morning. The food was very good with lots of variety from the a la carte menu. The rooms were a good size with very comfortable beds and big showers. I would only take a point off for the rooftop bar. It had no atmosphere and played the most annoying repetitive beat continuously.

Getaway at Pullman

Had a wonderful getaway with husband. Location was at the heart of the city, accessible to everything. Entrance yo the hotel is quite hard to find initially but we figured it out. A great thanks to the team for making our stay memorable. The bed is super comfortable & clean. The only thing missing was there were no slippers nor toothbrush provided which you’d expect from a 5 star hotel. But overall it was worth the trip.
