The kind of hotel you basically need

Ibis chain generally cultivates the same or similar traits in all of these facilities. This one is no different. But it has basically all you need unless you search for luxury. It is clean and comfortable. Breakfast is designed to offer something for everyone. I particularly like the lemon or mint favoured water offered to all guests in the lobby. It is conveniently located near the public transport but within walking distance from Gare Cornavan.

Not up to Ibis Standards

Knowing Switzerland is an expensive place to visit I guess we expected more from the Ibis Brand on staying at the Ibis Centra Gare Geneva. The location is ok, it is on the opposite side of the railway tracks to most other hotels and city centre, but only just, the railway viaduct runs behind the hotel and less than ten-minute walk to the main station. The hotel room was tiny, the smallest hotel on our trip, not much bigger than a standard overnight ferry cabin. The bathroom felt like the size an aircraft toilet. The bed was comfortable, and room was warm which was good as it was 1 degree outside. The only power sockets in the room was an odd power strip hardwired into a desk under the window, this also had a couple of USB points on it. We only paid for one breakfast on our last morning luckily, This “buffet” breakfast for $33 AUD each was the worst hotel breakfast we have ever had. On arrival in the breakfast room there was no, cereal bowls, no plates, no orange juice, no bread for toast. Rather sad looking congealed scrambled eggs. The coffee mug was cracked, when bowls did turn up from the kitchen they were chipped, and no matter how many times I tried to get cold milk from the machine it was always heated milk, not very nice on cornflakes. The staff seemed to bicker with each other constantly. Having stayed in an Ibis hotel earlier on the same trip I expected more from this hotel, and I feel Ibis should examine the use of the Ibis name on this property.
