I had booked a 3-night stay at Ibis Sydney World Square but had to cancel my trip to Australia due to the sudden passing of my father. From the moment I contacted the hotel to request a refund, my request was handled promptly and with genuine kindness. Even though my booking was non-refundable, the hotel handled my request immediately and refunded me within days. Their compassion during such a difficult time was remarkable.A big thank 🙏 you!

There was a stench of strong sickly perfume (air freshener?) in the lobby constantly which made me feel quite unwell, even if just passing through. It needs to be toned down. For breakfast, there was not an alternative to dairy milk and not a separate toaster for gluten free bread (not edible without toasting). Very disappointing. We ended going out for breakfast on the other days. Location was excellent though, very close to public transport etc.

I’m surprised it’s only a 3 Star hotel??? The room are quite tiny, and so is the foyer, but it still felt as though it should be classified as a 4 Star. The best thing was the little cafe at the entry. We got there too early to check in, so the convenience of being able to sit, drink coffee, and use my laptop was handy. Catching a taxi in Pitt Street is easy too.

I was booked here on a work trip. My hopes were not high, but it was worse than I expected. Very thin walls mean being woken up by doors shutting in the hall and water running in adjacent rooms. Very noisy from nearby bars on the weekend too - I used noise cancelling headphones on the Friday night to try to sleep at about midnight. The room was tiny and careworn - to the point that the carpet was just downright dirty. The shower door didn’t close properly, so the bathroom floor was perpetually wet with mouldy grout, and the toilet was so closely situated between the shower and the wall that anyone with any mobility issues or even slightly larger would have difficulty. You can’t alter the air conditioner yourself, but instead need to ring reception to have them adjust it. After many phone calls, I just used it to cool the room, turned it off, and then back on when I woke up sweating. For some reason housekeeping wouldn’t top up milk, so that became an evening ritual of trying to remember to ask for milk from reception. I have today that the reception staff were lovely, despite it all, hence the two stars.
