As an Accor Diamond member I feel this hotel plays lip service to supporting the published benefits. At check in they thanked me for my loyalty but that was it. When I queried the possibility of an upgrade I was advised that I had already booked a nice room so no upgrade was possible, in fact there were multiple better rooms available. They said they needed to check with the Manager. When I asked for a late check out the instant response was not really possible, I queried this and they said they had to check with the manager. It does seem that the manager needs to empower their staff to deliver the benefits that loyalty is meant to offer - If an upgrade is not possible clearly state that at check in, offer a drink voucher or a bottle of wine or chocolates don’t just ignore the benefit. Loyalty is a two way street. Room a reasonable size but if you are a light sleeper make sure you are not near the lifts as you can hear these and feel them move past the room. When we visited there was an industrial dehumidifier operating in the corridor, this was left running all night which was not good. Others have commented on the lounge which people pay a lot of money for. When we visited it was very busy with no chance to work or read. There were lots of children some with well behaved parents some with parents who didn’t really care what their children did. Location is very central with easy access to shops, offices and reasonable walking distance to Circular Quay, approximately 10 minutes. Perfect location for State Theatre

Great location and lovely king room with City view. The Arches Bar is lovely and nice to take a break after shopping

Second stay for us at this hotel and we choose it because of its central location. With a rainy weekend it’s so easy for getting about in the city. Reception is very understaffed at pretty much all times of the day so be prepared for a wait. The rooms are a good size and well equipped

Great location but a bit of a let down

I’m not sure this hotel could be deemed 5*. The location is fantastic, just step out the door and everything for a tourist is within reach. Check in was okay, but staff seemed to be mechanical and just doing their job and nothing more. This was a common thread throughout our stay. I didn’t see one staff member who looked like they enjoyed their job, or wanted to be there. No one engaged with guests at all that I saw. The only person who was pleasant was one young man at concierge. He, at least, smiled and said hello. Our room was what was expected. Comfortable and adequate. The pillow menu ( when we found it in a drawer) was a good touch and one we made use of. The rooms were very soundproof, with the exception of the bathroom. Housekeeping was very hit and miss. Certainly not 5* standard. We were very disappointed with the food overall. Buffet breakfast was not great. Not a great deal of choice, not especially tasty, coffee cold and self serve, and overrun with unruly kids touching everything. I’m not kid phobic, I had 2 with me, and they were appalled at the behaviour and didn’t want to eat what had been touched and thrown back. We tried room service and again the food was very average. We didn’t use the pool, as again, full of unruly kids with no supervision, and my 2 didn’t want to try and swim amongst that. When I booked I was surprised at the rate which was way less than I was expecting. Maybe this had something to do with the influx of families. All in all I would rate it for location and the soundproof room, however I’m not sure I would stay here again.

Never again! Out of Control Kids in a paid EXECUTIVE lounge is unacceptable! Ruined whole trip!!

UNLESS YOU LOVE OUT OF CONTROL KIDS TAKING OVER YOUR PAID EXECUTIVE LOUNGE EXPERIENCE, DO NOT STAY HERE!! Never again! And I have stayed here so many times in the past! And in the last there was a time limit for children in the lounge, ecp at night. NOT anymore! The food was all touched, and I also witnessed kids putting back food with grubby hands after having it on thier tables, Noise is crazy now that they have removed the soundproof to the lounge, all u hear now is loud cocktail shakers and very loud chatter from the lower lobby, So no relaxing will happen in the so called lounge. Breakfast was the same, Kids running the show! Hands into everything! Saw a kid dig his bum and then handle the tongs for food one morning, nice hey?!? How is that top dollar charge working for ya? No? Not ur cup of tea? Well this hotel caters for kids only, The pool was taken over by wild unsupervized kids, the lounges u pay top dollar to use, kids again, Turn down service or even a normal service has to be arranged as its NOT just done anymore, I called one night at 5:45 pm for turndown, got told Sorry the cleaning staff have all gone home. Like seriously? Do yourselves a favor, skip this hotel and book into the Shangri-la! Beautiful harbor views and a club lounge that has a time limit for unruly kids in the evening so u can actually enjoy what u have PAID FOR!! Oh and a sidenote, the staff at the checkin counters are as sour as lemonade with no sugar! Blah! Never again!!!

Overall a very disappointing stay at this so called 5-star hotel. We arrived early and despite requesting an early check-in, had to wait until 4pm. Not a luxury experience. We booked a suite with executive club access, and although the suite was nice, the lounge was awful. The paper we were give upon check-in describes the lounge as "designed for the discerning business and leisure traveller." The reality was far from it. There was nothing discerning about the clientele or the 30 or so children running around at all times of the day. Maybe the hotel sells access, but there is not enough room or food to go around. Arriving for the 5:30pm opening, the entire lounge was full and the first round of food was gone within 10 minutes. This was our first stay at the Swissotel and unfortunately it will be our last.
