Noisy and bathroom moldy

Customer review rating 2.5/5

Anonymous Business - Confirmed reviews ALL

I stay here regularly and the cleanliness of the bathrooms has gone downhill drastically. This time I was in a very old room with a shower head that looked ancient and didn’t work, and the tiles had so much mold on the grout. I couldn’t sleep because of the noise in the room as well. Terrible stay

Will not be back...Band-aid on Linen

TripAdvisor rating 1.0/5

Danielle J TripAdvisor review

We just returned home from 3 nights in the city. The Mecure Sydney has always been our 'go-to' Hotel however after this stay we won't be back. We found a used band-aid on our bed sheets on our first night. We reported it to the Reception Manager the following morning and asked for the bed to be given all fresh linen. The Reception Manager apologied but i didn't feel she really understood just how disgusting it was. We came back to the room late the following 2 nights so didn't take too much notice of the linen however the beds looked fresh. This morning when we woke, we realised the band-aid was still there. I called Reception immediately and they again apologised and said they had notified Housekeeping and would need to investigate why the linen wasn't changed. I asked if the Housekeeping Manager could meet me in the room to discuss. I waited 20 mins and no one came. I went to Reception and reported what had happened. The Receptionist and the Reception Manager apologied but again I feel they didn't understand exactly how disgusting it was. After probing them, they offered to give us free breakfast or free parking but to be honest I felt we deserved more than that. They said they would look into it and email me by end of day but still nothing. After staying many times over, we wont be staying again. The band-aid was one thing but their response (or lack of) was another thing. The location is excellent and the Hotel is value for money but the rooms were dirty (which extended past the band-aid incident).

Dear T4878JLdaniellej Please allow me to apologise for the incident which occurred. Rest assured that our Executive Housekeeper has investigated your feedback further and I am aware our Front Office Manager has been in contact with you directly. Okay for an overnight stay

TripAdvisor rating 3.0/5

DDHZ2017 TripAdvisor review

We stayed overnight midweek as 4 friends. The room was tiny - 2 double beds but it was neat & clean. It served our needs for somewhere to stay overnight but not really somewhere you would want to stay if you wanted to spend time relaxing in the room - at least not with 4 people as no where to sit but 2 chairs and the beds. Check in was a bit long winded. The “extras” sold on booking were not really extras except we did get the early check in and late check out. Didn’t get 20% off drinks at bar because we forgot but the staff should also perhaps ask if you are hotel guests! We got a free drink voucher by signing up with Accor as suggested by the staff who checked us in. That in itself was a fiddly process. The staff member at reception we then saw to get our voucher was not the friendliest - abrupt and unhelpful. Other staff were nice enough. We arrived to our room with only 2 towels - despite there being 4 people booked in. The beds were comfy but also lacked extra pillows which we asked for and they delivered. Breakfast buffet was nice and good value. Checkout was quick and they stored our bags. Overall the stay suited our needs for this quick trip and it’s a great location. I wouldn’t consider it if I wanted a view or to enjoy time in the room.

Dear DDHZ2017 Thank you for taking the time to share your experience by providing us with both positive and constructive feedback. We hope to welcome you back to our hotel one day. Kind regards, Ben Murphy General Manager Mercure Sydney

Second Stay!

TripAdvisor rating 4.0/5

islandboi6 TripAdvisor review

This was our second stay at the Mercure Railway Square. Excellent location, right next to Spice Alley, China Town, light rail etc. Rooms have been refurbished, with a very nice bathroom. Very quite considering the location. Reception team friendly and welcoming. Housekeeping a little sketchy but not bad. A big shoutout to the team on the concierge desk who aided at check-in and departure to make our stay stress free! My pet peeve is the card fee hospitality venues apply across the board at the moment (given we are moving more and more to a cashless society) I guess it's just some icing on the cake for these venues. All it did for me was make sure I didn't spend anything on food or drink during my stay. Look forward to returning soon!

Dear Islandboi6 Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I was pleased to learn you have enjoyed your second stay with us and appreciate your constructive feedback. We hope to welcome you back very soon! Kind regards, Ben Murphy General Manager Mercure Sydney

Spare an hour of your life for check in

Sarah P TripAdvisor review

Convenient location and that's all this hotel has to offer. 45 minutes to check in is absolutely appalling. I have no idea why the woman checking us in needed to write massive paragraphs for everyone checking in. I had booked and paid online. All my details should be there. All other hotel staff checking people in were going a lot quicker. Average room for the price. Having to listen to other disgruntled customers at the lift is disappointing.

Dear Sarahpatafio I do apologise if there was a delay with your arrival experience and I will ensure this is reviewed with our Front Office Manager. Thankyou for sharing your feedback and I hope we have the opportunity to welcome you again one day. Kind regards, Ben Murphy General Manager Mercure Sydney
