Lovely respite in Lyon

Lovely hotel, comfy lounge and a wonderful bartender/waiter. Our group loved hanging out at the lounge after a day of exploring Lyon all day. Breakfast was amazing, one of the best in France itself , there were various good offerings and the beautiful raspberry compote was heavenly. Try the hotel's Gatsby drink, or even better— the non-alcoholic fresh raspberry spritzer. I never had anything like it! Clean and bright, staff were wonderful and welcoming. Only negative is that rooms were unbearably hot, the AC wasn't working, so most of us sought relief by opening the windows ( but the Mistral winds kicked in that same night).

Been in better hotels.

Although the bedrooms were excellent, two beds to choose from, the restaurant dinners were very expensive and poor quality. After the second visit we moved on to the fabulous Italian restaurant nearby. Breakfast was great if you want to pay 20 euros a head, with a good choice. Unfortunately during the night the fire alarm went off several times. After getting dressed and undressed, the receptionist informed us it was a false alarm, ho hum! Tired the next day after such a disturbing night.

Review: I booked and fully paid for this hotel through Booking.com. However, when I arrived, an additional €660 was charged to my card without any explanation. I only found out the next day — when my card was declined at a restaurant. When I asked the reception about it, they said: “Oh, that was a mistake, sorry.” That’s all — no compensation, no responsibility, no follow-up. Even worse: they didn’t cancel the extra charge until the day I checked out. They held my money the entire time, and never provided written confirmation of the cancellation. I felt completely disrespected. So if you’re considering this hotel, think twice. Your card might be charged unfairly, and all you’ll get is “sorry”. Extremely unprofessional. Avoid.

Functional and spacious rooms with large towels provided. Bed was comfortable but pillows too small and wi fi ok. Lifts were small and unable to carry large numbers and breakfast was ok with an efficient coffee machine. Enjoyed our brief overnight stay.
