So, this was the third and final ibis Hotel we stayed at during our trip. Apparently, all of them have a ventilation situation in the shower: it either doesn’t work or just doesn’t exist. And don’t get me started on the size of the rooms—if you’re taller than 5'8", things get awkward. I’m 6 feet tall and managed to bump my head on the wall in front of the toilet. I also couldn’t leave the shower without catching a wall or an edge. In general, though, it's fine if you just need a place to crash. Room 404, beware... After checking in, we went up to settle in before heading out for dinner. As I entered the bathroom, I noticed something... ants? Wait, ANTS?! I killed six of them and carried on. I mentioned it to my wife, and she lazily rolled over and said, "If they're dead, clean them up." Sigh. I had already done that, so we took a nap. After our 30-minute recharge, I went back to the bathroom and saw even more of these "things." Ants? No, "things." Upon closer inspection, they weren't ants but bug-like creatures the size of ants. At this point, my wife is like, "Chill. I'm hungry. Let’s just tell reception on the way out." So I’m like, "Word," and we head downstairs. The receptionist looks bewildered when I ask for bug spray and insists on coming to the room with us. She grabs two spray bottles and follows us back. One looks like Windex, and the other is probably bleach... neither is bug spray. To her horror, these little creatures are indeed crawling all over the bathroom floor, and she immediately goes to work. I ask if we can switch rooms, but she informs us the hotel is fully booked tonight. However, we can move in the morning. Fine. Bugs gone, we head out to dinner. Upon returning, though, not only are the ant-like creatures back in full force in the bathroom, but now they've taken over the counter/desk. My wife makes a beeline for reception while I, once again, become an exterminator and pack up the few things we had out. She returns quickly with a key for a new room on a different floor, leaving me both frustrated and confused. P.S. To the curly brunette who yelled at me for bringing in food: I thought it was a lobby with a bar, not a restaurant. I wouldn’t have stopped there if I’d known. There’s a professional way to explain things, and then there’s the way you did it.

The hotel is in a very good location, the hall is very nice (enjoyable the idea to have a simple desk as desk, whereas you enter directly the bar hall. The room, though, was much tinier than the other Ibis I recently visited, and thanks God I didn't need the air conditioner because it is very obsolete and noisy. Breakfast is absolutely wonderful.

We booked our stay in this particular Ibis hotel due to its proximity (10 minutes walk) to the main railway station and also, it offered good value compared to other hotels close to the station. Check in was easy; front desk staff being young and friendly. Our room was very small and we had to rearrange some of the furniture to find a place for our bags The rooms are basic, with no frills, but to be fair, this is a hotel catering to tourists who don’t want to spend a lot of money on a hotel, but want the basics covered : room, ensuite bathroom, comfortable bed and air conditioned. So, getting down to the basics, these are the positive features of this hotel: - hotel is close to Lyon’s main railway station - 10 minutes walk - public transport (buses) are 2 minutes walk from the hotel. Public transport is easy to use. - hotel has a bar and a restaurant. The restaurant is very good with reasonable prices. - good buffet breakfast. - friendly and obliging staff These are the not so good features: - rooms are small, very poky. If you are looking for somewhere that is reasonably priced and in a good location, then this Ibis hotel will meet your needs.

Somewhat basic but nonetheless functional hotel conveniently located only a few minutes' walk from Part-Dieu train station, Westfield Part-Dieu and the Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse. All staff members that we interacted with were friendly and helpful. The reception/bar area has a free pinball machine, foosball table and snooker table, which is a nice touch. My teenage son and I stayed in a standard twin bed room. The room was tiny and was just about adequate for us with two small hand luggage size suitcases. Everything from entering the room to manoeuvring the bathroom was a squeeze though. The aircon unit in our room was not in the best shape and we had to have it on the coldest and strongest possible setting all night for the room to be bearable. Having said that, it was unreasonably hot at the time (35 degrees during the say) so maybe the aircon has been having to work harder than usual. Overall, the hotel did the trick for us as an affordable no-frills place to sleep.

Good things: - very friendly and helpful staff! That really makes a difference - decent location - about 10 - 15 minute walk to Gare Part Dieu and right across from the fabulous food hall. Easy access to the center of town - very clean Bad things: - the room is TINY. I’m one small woman and it was hard for me to fit my suitcase in the room. Two people would be a challenge - the hairdryer. Seems silly but it blows about as strong as a whisper and only works for about one minute until it overheats. If you have long hair, forget it. It’s one of those old wall units, so could easily be replaced by the hotel. It’s a very basic hotel, but clean and decently located, so I would stay again.
