Surprisingly decent sized room for this chain of hotel, even had double aspect with great views. Somewhat dated in appearance. Narrow double bed but mattress was good. Stupid bedside lights, no charging sockets. Electric sockets underneath useless bedside shelves. Plenty of storage space – be careful lower right hand side gets very warm because of refrigerator taking up some space. Sadly PAPER CUPS!!!!! in a 4* hotel seems to be normal these days, which is why we ALWAYS take our own ceramic ones. Left the room one morning at 8:30 placing the sign for room to be cleaned on the door handle. Came back at 14:30, yes room NOT cleaned. Went to Reception who said it would be dealt with straight away. HALF AN HOUR later NO ONE came. Partner TOLD Reception they would give us a drink while it was to be cleaned there and then. To add insult to injury we later discovered we were given a voucher that as loyalty members, we should have been given upon arrival. Then on the Friday was woken up at 1am by horrendous EXCESSIVE noises from the street below. Noise decreased about 5 am but we were totally unable to sleep resulting in being very tired all day Saturday. Saturday night we slept with a sleeping pill and ear plugs! So, the level of soundproofing is not what it should be for a hotel of this supposed quality. Oh and of course who could not forget the SUPPOSED blackout curtains! The car Bonnie and Clyde were shot in probably had fewer holes in it. I have numerous emails from the company saying “we are committed to providing a superior guest experience to our customers and we value all your feedback.” So, it will be fascinating to see any response to these comments along the usual lines of “...we are sorry our hotel did not live up to your expectations on this occasion…” On reflection I have stayed in many of the ACCOR chain mainly Ibis Novotel Mecure Adagio Sofitel Pullman and have had poor experiences in most of them overall. I think I will avoid them in the future.

Very comfortable hotel in a great central location, with friendly and helpful staff - would definitely return here next time we're in Porto. Well appointed room with plenty of space and a comfortable bed. It also has very nice decor, and excellent views from the room out over the city.

Good enough is the phrase that comes to mind. I don’t think this hotel is a true four star; it’s more like a 3 or 3.5. It’s a convenient location in the city and there’s free single-serve water in the lobby. However, the room itself was quite outdated. The exhaust fan was just outside the bathroom and the switch for that fan was on the complete opposite side of the room. A 5 minute hot shower with the fan on still led to a lot of condensation, which is probably why the wood bathroom door looked worn down. Note, the neighborhood is very loud with music on Saturday nights.

This hotel is in a great location. From Santa Catarina square it is very easy to access the main attractions of the city. It has a great restaurant with excellent breakfast and dinner options are reasonably priced. I didn’t like the reception, as there are no desk, just two little stand with standing staff near the door, and they are easily passed by. I was in room 431, please avoid it at any cost, it’s a prison cell. No night tables by the minuscule bed, just two stands with no drawers. The TV is in the middle of the room and it takes a lot of walkable space. You can’t move inside that room. Walls are paper thin, you can hear everything your neighbors talk, or do at night (wink) Being a member of Accor, I wasn’t even given a courtesy water bottle. I have stayed at other 4 star Mercure hotels, and they were great, this is bad…

Hey all this is in the perfect location (on top of a hill, of course) but close to the Bento train station. Big shout out to 2 employees there, Bruno and Andre. If you have the opportunity to interact with them ,do it. Andre was helpful with back ground on Portugal and Porto and Bruno really helped plan 6 hours in Porto. We hit most of it thanks to his help and a map. B & S
