We had room 206 with a wonderful view over the marina to the Atlantic Ocean. Ample free parking. The walk into the Gaia side of Porto is long, but it’s along the boardwalk by the river, so not hilly at all. The staff at reception and at the bar were all very nice. The breakfast was above average. The bathroom amenities were also above average. We stayed on the weekend, and the prices go up during the week, as we assume it’s mostly a business hotel.

An Enjoyable Stay

I stayed here with friends and we had an enjoyable time. I'd never stayed in an Ibis before and was a bit doubtful about it, but this one was very lovely. The lady behind the desk wasn't that informative, but that may have been her English. My room was very tiny but comfortable. There wasn't much in the way of storage but if you're only staying for one or two nights that's probably okay. The decor is all dark and modern. I got a good night's sleep and didn't hear any noise from outside my room. The bathroom was also tiny, but clean and the shower was good. The only downside is the location which is far from everywhere you want to see. We walked down to the harbour for our evening meal and the walk up the hill afterwards was a bit of a trek. We had to taxi into Porto and then when we got back to the Vila Nova de Gaia side of the river we had to taxi back to the hotel again. It all adds to the cost.

What a horrid experience

Just arrived to check in to find Jose at the front desk. He informed us our rooms were not ready and was not apologetic or hospitable about the situation. He should be retrained or fired immediately. I'd be curious to hear what Jose is trained to do because what happened definitely isn't what should've been done. As a travel agent, I would be horrified if my clients went through this situation. This is the second issue I've had with an Ibis hotel in a week. I will no longer be booking any clients at any Ibis hotel and I urge you to not book at Ibis either. As a travel agent if this is the experience I am having I can only imagine the experience everyone else has. The room was fine but nothing special. It is a place to rest your head but that is it. In conclusion, you certainly get less than what you pay for at Ibis and have to deal with completely incompetent front desk agents.

Very good breakfasts, rooms cleand everyday. We recommend for short stay in Porto. Staff smiled everyday and helpful. Location is not bad - bus station in few minutes from the hotel. Pressed orange juice was delicious

We were very pleased to have selected this hotel. It was a short distance from the centre of Porto, but only a 9 euro taxi ride away. The bonus of this was that it was a quiet and peaceful location, particularly important to us as we had a 11 year old child. The staff were extremely helpful, providing use of a forgotten phone charger amongst other things. Breakfast was a very good selection. All in asll, excellent value
