Great location but the AC is not good

Great location in a multi-ethnic part of Berlin. Near the Boddin Strasse subway stop (U8) only about 6 stops to Alexander Platz. Great breakfast in the first floor restaurant. Good variety, mix of continental style and American. One major issue if you are from the USA and expect the AC to be nice and cool. The AC was not turned on at first as Berlin was suffering a 80F heatwave in early May, something they are not used to. When it was turned don we ran it at maximum (said the temp would be 19.5C), but it never got down that low. A shame as, since this is a Mercure, you expect a certain standard. I have stayed at Accor properties in Poland, England, India, Luxembourg, Belgium, Czechia, Australia, China, etc. and they are usually pretty reliable places. However, the front desk manager, Mohammed, did help us out with our problems and so in the end we were happy with our stay.

The wifi is not very good, and you have the possibility to have an improve wifi but you have to pay for it... Not acceptable in 2024

Hotel was decent and in a good location. My overall experience was low due to being harassed at breakfast by one of the waiting staff who accused us of going to take an apple and a bread roll away from breakfast. The waitress continued to come back to the table twice and at one point told us we could pay for the items in order to take them away. We had already paid a high amount ($23) for the breakfast and I did not appreciate being spoken to like this especially when we were not even trying to take the items away. I will not be staying in a Mercure again and will recommend friends/family to stay somewhere else.

Noisy, with bad internet

I've stayed here before but had forgotten how noisy it gets with regular sirens and lots of car traffic late into the night (especially with a room facing toward streets). More frustratingly, the internet connection was really poor. It felt quite misleading that the hotel advertises free wifi, but the free wifi was extremely unreliable. Often for 10+ minutes I couldn't load a webpage. I realize there's an option to pay for faster internet, but I didn't need anything particularly fast or data-heavy. I just needed a consistent, basic connection. When I told staff at the front desk, they gave me very patronizing advice like "Try refreshing the webpage" or "Sometimes webpages just load slowly." That wasn't the problem; it was clear that my computer couldn't stay connected to the internet for long stretches (and my laptop is usually great with connecting). The location is great for a lot of things but I was pretty disappointed overall. I wouldn't recommend this hotel, especially for people there for business.

Water problems

I liked the room and the staff was friendly. The water from the shower would flood onto the floor making it unsafe and uncomfortable. A little clear caulk at the bottom of the shower glass would solve 90% of this. Additionally, water could not get hot in the morining. You need better management of peak hot water needs.
