We just used your hotel for an overnight stay before travelling down to Nice. Very satisfied with stay. My only comment would be give more attention to the coffee condiments in the room no milk provided

An honest mistake handled professionally

This is a bizarre story. But upfront, I still recommend this hotel given they handled their mistake well. I checked in a little past 3pm for a 5-night stay. Initially the person at the reception gave me room 1xx, then changed it to 3xx at my request for a higher floor. I got into my room, put down my luggage, passport, and money, then headed out to explore the city. So far so good. At about 10pm I returned to my room 3xx only to find that my key didn't work. Weird. I went to the reception and spoke to the night manager. He told me their system still had me in room 1xx. I said that didn't make sense because I was able to get into 3xx earlier and, importantly, my belongings were still there. The night manager went up with me to 3xx only to find someone else in the room. He apologized to the person, and given the embarrassing situation, we left quickly without asking about my belongings. We then went to room 1xx in case my belongings were moved there. Nope, it was empty. The night manager then asked a staff to check if they were in the storage. Not there either. So room 3xx was still the most likely place where my belongings could be. We went back there and after explaining to the person in the room what happened, I went in and sure enough my belongings were right there. This was a serious mistake as it left my passport, money and luggage alone with a stranger. Somehow the staff who checked me in gave me the key to 3xx but unintentionally left me in the system in 1xx. The hotel understood the gravity of the situation. Long story short, the next day we settled on the compensation for the mistake. The hotel staff seemed sincere in their apologies. And I was glad that the staff on duty were briefed on what happened from one shift to the next, saving me the trouble of having to explain. They were also prompt in their email responses. I felt that they genuinely wanted to resolve the issue to my satisfaction. If I could make one suggestion to the hotel, it'd be to update their system/process to make it impossible to issue a key to a room that the customer is not checked in to.
