We have stayed in a few Mercure hotels in the recent past and they are usually pretty good. Here was a bit of a shock to us. We loved the breakfasts which were really excellent, but our room was sorely needing a make over and some modernising. The sink tap was loose; the carpet was worn , bath/shower was a bit tired and it was a real effort to get a shower standing up in the bath, not something we have done in a hotel for a while now with walk in showers etc. The outside balcony would have been great with better weather and floor boards that did not feel like they were going to give way when walked upon. There were some odd bits of stuff in our room e.g a small 3 step foot ladder, a large urn/vase under the bedside table. The safe did not work in spite of numerous efforts to get it to work and although the staff were nice and friendly, we had to ask three times to get a drink in the bar even though there were only two other customers in there. Were it not for our breakfasts, we would definitely be asking for our money back.

I was woken up in the mornings by the noise of the delivery trucks; the insulation was so bad that I thought my window was opened.... please remedy asap
