One week at the Hotel Stendahl wasn't enough! The hotel is excellently situated, just off the Place Vendôme and close to many of the major tourist attractions and shops. Our room was quite spacious and supremely comfortable - perhaps the best hotel bed we have ever experienced. And all of the staff were friendly and helpful. A perfect stay.

Overall satisfactory stay, being in the heart of Paris where you can walk everywhere, the expectation of the rooms are naturally going to be small but lifts and stairs are also small and hall way. There wont be much luggage keeping space for long haul traveller if you are with big luggages.
Second Stay at Le Stendhal

I have just returned from my second stay at the Hotel Stendhal and had a lovely time. The staff is very professional and go out of their way to help. I travelled with my daughter and emailed the hotel in advance to request twin beds and to enquire about leaving luggage with them on arrival and departure. Olivia replied within minutes to say that they had already allocated us a twin room and that yes, we could leave luggage with them. We arrived before midday and by chance, our room was already prepared, which was great. The building was the former home of the author, Stendhal and there is a plaque near the entrance with brief details. The colour scheme throughout is a nod to his most famous work 'le Rouge et le Noir' and I noticed an open book in Reception containing further information but I didn't scrutinise it. I'm sure the staff would be happy to provide more historical details if requested. Housekeeping is of a very high standard and there are little touches which set it apart from other hotels in this range, such as the hair bobble (with the shower cap), the hair comb, the make up removal/cotton buds kit, shoe cleaning bits in addition to the safe, the bath robes and the slippers. There is also a magnifying mirror in the bathroom, which is very useful for doing your make-up. The Clarins toiletries are lovey too and I like the rain shower. The hotel provides a selection of coffee (instant and pods, normal and de-caff) as well as standard tea, earl grey, herbal and green. One morning I left a note asking for some extra coffee and the housekeeping staff kindly obliged. There are also two bottles of complimentary water in the fridge (still and sparkling) which are replenished daily. In terms of location, it's situated within walking distance of several metro stations - Pyramides, Tuileries, Concorde and Madeleine. If you're coming from CDG then take the Roissy Bus and you can walk to the hotel from the Opera House. The Stendhal is so centrally located that it's possible to return during the day to freshen up or drop off shopping and then head out again. I highly recommend the Stendhal but it is quite small, so rooms are booked up very fast and you need to reserve in plenty of time. The TV had been upgraded since our last visit; there were several news channels in different languages but we couldn't find an English one. We wanted to practise our French so it didn't matter to us. We watched a lot of BFM Paris so that we knew what was happening in the capital. I don't know the names of all the staff but the lady when we checked in was very nice, so too was the gentleman I saw frequently on reception as I was coming and going. Thank you, Olivia for your kindness when we returned to collect our luggage on the last day.
