Pleasant people but Stingy facility.

Each member of staff was pleasant and courteous. No complaints there. However the apartment was not adequately resourced. * A hot plate but not a single cooking utensil. No pots no frypan etc. * A microwave but no microwave dishes. * A cutting board but not a single kitchen knife or bread knife. * No tea towel * No toilet brush - had to call housekeeping if the toilet needed to be cleaned. We booked the apartment for a week with a view to self-cater some of the time. It was advertised as though self-catering was possible. It was not. We contacted reception to ask for the basic requirements. Housekeeping came and we were told they would have to put in a special request .., but nothing came. Very disappointing customer service. It really felt like everything was done on the cheap.

The IBIS is a reasonable 3 star accommodation option centrally located in Melbourne CBD. Close proximity to trams in either Swanston or Elizabeth Sts, many good eateries nearby, including Queen Victoria Market. Walkable distance to Bourke St mall (about 1 km). Woolworths and IGA nearby. The 2 bedroom apartment was in ok condition. The bathroom had been more recently updated, whilst the remainder of the apartment was a little tired looking (stain on sofa and walls, old window drapes) however overall it was acceptably clean and functional. Room was serviced every day. Improvements in the living area would be better lighting and a larger TV. Buffet breakfast provided a decent selection of the basics (hot items, fruit, yogurt, cereal and bread). All staff were friendly and helpful, and more welcoming than staff at so called higher rated hotels in Melbourne we have recently stayed in.

The hotel is in a convenient location and we had a good sized two-bedroom apartment. Unfortunately, they didn't provide hand towels for either bathroom sink nor tea towels in the kitchenette across our five-night stay. The bath/shower tiles also need regrouting and the shower curtain needs to be replaced. There's a lot of shelves for keeping your belongings organised, but they did need a wipe down before using them. The staff were friendly and helpful.

I stayed in Room 502, and my experience was highly disappointing. The room appeared old and unclean, completely unlike the photos on the booking site, which were likely taken when the hotel was new. There was a bad odor coming from the bathtub curtain, and basic kitchen essentials, like a knife, were missing. On the first day, we received a few tea and sugar packs, but they were not replenished during the rest of our stay. Additionally, there was no proper ventilation, and the cooking smells in the corridor were unbearable. Access to parking was another major inconvenience. There was no elevator, and the staff did not assist with luggage. We had to use the ramp to carry our bags and strollers, which was very inconvenient. When I booked the hotel through Booking.com, it was advertised as having parking. However, upon arrival, I found all the hotel parking spaces were full. The staff instructed me to park at 58 Franklin Street Parking, stating they had an agreement with the facility, and told me to bring the parking ticket for a discount voucher. The next morning, I discovered my car window had been smashed, and items worth $7,000 were stolen. Repairing the glass cost me an additional $600, even after choosing the cheapest option. When I reported this to hotel management, they simply dismissed my concerns, claiming they were not responsible. However, since I parked at 58 Franklin Street Parking based on their clear instructions and assurances, I believe the hotel bears full responsibility. Otherwise, I would have parked my car elsewhere, such as in secured parking, at a friend’s house, or even on the street. The hotel management kept insisting they were merely suggesting the parking facility and not recommending it, which is untrue. They explicitly stated they had an agreement with 58 Franklin Street Parking and regularly directed guests there, describing it as conveniently located just behind the hotel. Despite this, they refused to acknowledge any fault. This entire experience left me suspicious of a potential connection between the hotel and the person who broke into my car. There are plenty of other hotels and Airbnb options in the CBD that offer better service at reasonable prices. I strongly recommend avoiding this property.

Stayed here on three occasions for a total of nine nights during Nov/Dec. I am a regular Ibis/Accor user across the world, and so familiar with the service level. As a base for a protracted stay this Ibis was exactly what we needed. No frills, but a straightforward functional clean hotel. The location, next to Victoria Market is in the free tram zone, and so easy to connect into the City, Flinders/Southern Cross Stations, South Side etc. Desk staff always helpful. Room was clean, quiet, with a good bed and well provisioned bathroom. Room servicing very efficient. The self service laundry/dryers etc (paid for) is an excellent bonus for those staying a while, as is the ability to leave luggage between stays (at no cost). We did not use the buffet breakfast, prefering to walk across to Victoria Market, so cannot comment.
