Stayed 7 years ago in this hotel and loved it at that time. Now back again and got a different feeling. Good points are : room is spacious, no noise from the street, good bathroom towels and of course still the perfect location in the centre of the town ! Minor points are : toilet works in a strange way, room carpet tired, breakfast choice is not sufficient and quality should be better, breakfast room floor and tables are sticky ... so overall too expensive for what you get !

We booked a suite as a treat. We were very disappointed. The decor in the room was shabby and tired, as were the facilities. The service was also underwhelming - some of the reception staff were unwelcoming (their general demeanour was 'bored'). All in all the quality did not match the price (£184 plus £15 for parking).

Stayed there again for our snooker break it’s more expensive than a few other hotels that are perhaps slightly further away but because of it’s close proximity to where we want to be we feel it’s worth it.The rooms are good and it’s very quiet.

Hotel was fine but probably didn’t feel 4 star. Wi-Fi was an unsecured network that didn’t work - no websites would load. Bathroom setup with separate old fashioned toilet was a bit odd. Some noise from the toilet at night with the cistern refilling. Not enough plug sockets in the room. Breakfast had a good selection. Bed was comfortable. Bar was quite good but closed too early as was shut each night after our return from snooker.

Good location for the centre of Sheffield, the Railway Station and the Crucible. We would have liked the staff on the Reception and Bar to have been more friendly and approachable to guests.
