It started with our arrival at noon, room available at 3 - fine- but when we get to the room at 5 the luggage isn’t even there. Then we asked for a reservation by the concierge and it took literally 30 mins to get a confirmation (it was a simple phone call). Then we ask for a taxi, which they ordered but never came (suggestion to all: forget taxis in Lisbon, Uber is faster and cheaper). Next day, we ask them to book a rooftop, they call in front of us, and tell us “it’s full but by the time you get there, a table will free up”. Guess what? It was completely full and we had to go elsewhere. Nice final touch, we ask the turndown staff to come later, they never came. Maybe they don’t speak English (in a hotel where 70% of the guests speak only that). Only bright spot is the nice breakfast staff. Oh, and no grace period on check out (not that I saw any cleaning staff rushing to clean the room when I left the room!) The rooms are tired, small, no bathtub, one sink. A sort of 1990s charm, including a Bose speaker that connects to a 2001 iPod. So, strip away the useless staff and you have a good 3 star hotel. We won’t be returning, even though we are loyal Accor customers.

Arrived to a very crowded lobby and unfriendly hostess. Room not ready at check in with no explanation, courtesy or even offer of a cocktail. After one hour given a room with a tiny window and view of scaffolding. Bellman are very polite. Nothing charming about hotel, service or room. Would not recommend or come again.

Great hotel within walking distance to Barrio Alto

This is a great hotel, on a nice tree lined street with plenty of high end stores. Staff was amazing and rooms were good size. To be honest a bit fancy for our family but we still enjoyed our stay and our kids had fun. Proximity to the subway made it easy to get around Lisbon by public transportation.

I have used Sofitel in many countries around the world and was very surprised at the experience we have experienced in Lisbon. I hate to complain having been part of the Accor Group for many years but very disappointed on our stay which is so unlike the top service we usually experience within Sofitel hotels and wider Accor group brands. Firstly on check in queued and waited patiently which is fine but then noticed another couple arrive and the check in staff rush to serve and check them in leaving us waiting for a further 15 mins. Maybe I should have put my blazer and Panama hat on to be served a bit quicker. No apology or even explanation very strange. Secondly your staff on conceige don’t seem to have time to handle your enquiries. With the exception of the Filipino staff member who was awesome and saved the day the others barely give you the time of day. Lastly and cannot believe this but ordered an ironing board and iron twice over a period of 3 hours. Nothing arrived we needed to leave for dinner and checking with the reception staff on leaving was told they could not deliver an iron or ironing board for our return to the room unless we someone was in the room for safety reasons ? Not sure how an iron plugs itself in to be dangerous on its own and no hotel in the world would give you that kind of response ? Sorry but room was comfortable and to Sofitel standard but service levels 3 star at best. Disappointed long term Accor member will not return.

Stayed in Magnifique Suite, hotel is in an excellent location, walking distance to city centre (10 mins) . They have their own parking with valet service . Room was great , although living room can do with more lights.b Buffet breakfast is reasonable , hotel pickup service was excellent. all this at 450 Euro/night would result in me typically giving a 4 star Hotel staff tipped this to 5, our trip got off to a nightmare with floods in Dubai resulting in long delays, informed hotel I would arrive a day late , despite the booking being prepaid and hotel having no obligation to do anything , the hotel manager offered a 1 day refund in hotel credit, which was a nice gesture and set the right tone .staff , front desk, concierge were very welcoming. Driving tip: Tom Tom shows side street in front of hotel as two way ( it’s not) , use google map or waze. Valet service is recommended.
