First, the hotel was in a great location. Our room was compact, but what we expected. The view of the Dom was impressive. The desk staff were helpful, providing a kettle and milk for us on request. The only slight glitch was that the shower head would not stay in position, and due to the power of the water pressure, if not held it decided to dance all over the cubicle!

Hotel Mondial Am Dom Cologne – MGallery Collection is an excellent hotel in one of the best locations in Cologne, literally overlooking the Dom — the city’s most iconic attraction. It is also just a short walk from Cologne Hauptbahnhof, the Rhine bridge and the Old Town, making it an exceptionally convenient base for exploring the city. The hotel itself confirms the Cathedral/Main Station are only about 200 metres away. The best part of my stay was the excellent recognition of my Accor Gold status. I was upgraded to a Cathedral-facing room, which made the stay considerably more special, and they also gave me a 4 PM late check-out. That was particularly valuable given my travel plans and was a great example of the benefits of Accor status being genuinely delivered. The room itself was a little on the smaller side, but it was excellent in every other respect — clean, very well maintained and equipped with everything I needed, including a safe, large cupboard, bathrobe and an espresso machine. There were also some nice complimentary touches, including freebies in the fridge and a welcome dessert/cake. The breakfast buffet was excellent as well, with a very good selection. Breakfast starts from 6:30 AM, which is another useful feature for early starts. The location really is the hotel’s biggest advantage. You are essentially right beside the Cathedral, with the main train station just a few minutes away, and the Old Town, Rhine and many of Cologne’s main attractions all within easy walking distance. The hotel also has a terrace with Cathedral views, which adds to the overall experience. The staff were helpful and the service was generally excellent throughout my stay. The combination of the fantastic location, attentive service and the recognition of my Accor status made this a particularly enjoyable stay. Would I stay here again? Absolutely. If you’re looking for an excellent hotel in Cologne that is as close as you can get to the Cathedral and Hauptbahnhof, just go for it. The location is superb, the rooms are very well equipped, breakfast is excellent and the service is first-rate. And if you have Accor status, the potential for a Cathedral-view upgrade and late checkout makes it even more compelling.

We had a 1 night stay as we transited from London to Copenhagen by train. The hotel was close and a brand we trust From walking in the door the stand out thing was not the quality of the room (that’s a given when you book an MGallery) it was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Even down to the reception person who almost sang “hood morning!” To us as we were checking out If we find ourselves in Cologne again.. would not stay anywhere else
