Nice hotel on outskirts location

Hotel was well presented and amenities were pleasant. We stayed with another couple. We had a pleasant stay overall. A 10-15 minute walk for a tram from Victorieplein or a 5 minute walk(or 10 mins via other options) to the metro back to Centraal station meant with transport links, it is a handy hotel at a fraction of the price of more centrally situated hotels. Our bathroom flooded during our stay which was quickly resolved by hotel staff and maintenance, which resulted in a room change but that was ok. Would not recommend for people with reduced mobility if visiting Amsterdam but we enjoyed our morning walks to get back into the city and a short trip on public transport. Would stay here again if we visited Amsterdam again.

Mostly great, slow check in

We stayed as a family of 2 adults and a teen. The room was spacious and comfortable with great views of the canal, and the pull out sofa bed was fine for the 3rd bed. The whole hotel seemed pleasant and clean. We didn't use the bar or have an evening meal, but the other 2 in the party had breakfast and although a little expensive, they did say that they enjoyed it. The location isn’t massively central, but there is a metro station around 10 minutes walk away. We did see people cycling to and from the hotel so I assume that’s doable if you’re into that, but if you’re wanting to walk to tourist locations it’s a little far out. There were usually taxis outside though. It’s still a good location for the price, given how expensive more central hotels are. If we had one real grumble it was the experience checking in. Reception seemed very disorganised, with 3 members of staff serving but not seeming to be organised with a big tour group trying to check in. It wasn’t clear who was serving who, and someone ended up pushing in front of us in the queue but to be honest she may not have even been aware that there was a queue as there were people everywhere. When we finally did get to the front we were questioned as we’d booked for 2 adults and a child, and told that 14 year old wasn’t a child as far as hotels are concerned “but it’s fine in this case”. We booked via an airline reward scheme (who I believe use Expedia) and were honest about age, and it wouldn’t have changed room price for 3 people anyway as far as I’m aware. Maybe it was just an observation and I’ve taken it the wrong way, but we’d been waiting a while at this point. The busy reception staff were also dealing with the small shop, which I did not realise when I rung the bell for service, and again that ended up being a bit of a wait. All in all we had a good stay here and I’d stay again, but feel like the check in process and front of house staffing could be better.

Amazing option for city break travelers!

I visited this hotel in March 2025 with my two friends and i have actually no complaints. Mercure Amsterdam city hotel is big hotel with two parts and 16 floors with a great view to Amsterdam. We had classic room with twin bed + couch bed. Room was regular size and everything was new, probably refurbished not long ago which was very nice and clean. Reception in hotel is 24/7, but the door probably close at 12, but u can easily open them if u have room card. Hotel has also a small shop where u can buy some snacks and dutch cheese. They also borrow umbrellas. In my opinion, hotel is very good option for travelers and groups who wants to live near city because hotel is situated approx. 5 mins by walk from the metro stop - Overamstel, and it takes another 5-6 minutes to the centre of the city. Also, hotel has parking lot, but its 32 euros for 24 hours. Hotel offers "american buffet" breakfast so there is lots of different options.

Stayed here for 5 nights to attend a conference at the Rai. It was a lovely 20 minute walk from the hotel or 1 stop on the metro. OverAmstel metro station is literally 5 minutes away, it was also walkable to bars/restaurants. Hotel was great, comfy beds, clean. Smallish gym but nice run by the water only a few minutes away. Reception staff all friendly and helpful. 20 minutes into the centre of Amsterdam.

Long weekend city break

Stayed for a long weekend and the hotel was the perfect location for a city break. We had interconnecting rooms which were decorated for my birthday which was a lovely touch. Comfy spacious rooms, about a 5 min walk to the nearest metro station which then takes about 10 minutes to get to the city centre. Breakfast was by far the best hotel breakfast we’ve ever had, so much choice - something for everyone. Would highly recommended
