We stayed here at the start of a longer journey to Italy with our dog and they couldn’t be more happy with how this hotel received us. We arrived early, before midday, and our was clean and ready. The front dest staff couldn’t be nicer and helped us with all our dog related questions. We will likely be staying here again one day as we continue to take our dog to Europe. Food was excellent, cocktails very good and good all around.

Restaurant at the hotel is a joke…

The hotel it self was good, comfortable beds and rooms were very clean. The restaurant: was the worst ever, came back from a long day out, we ordered our food at about 7.pm…did not get our food until 9…the serving staff were arguing with the chef, service was so poor and the waiter was talking back to us, they said we could have some drinks on the house they never came… absolutely disgusting service. My daughter paid for breakfast, the service from staff were just terrible…first day they didn’t know were or what to do, spoke to a waiter and asked, their response was basically didn’t care and seem to be nursing some sort of hangover or a good night out….

Novotel Amsterdan wery bad!

Disappointment at Novotel Amsterdam – Far from the Usual Novotel Standard Our stay at Novotel Amsterdam was a major disappointment. The hotel felt far too large to maintain the level of quality we usually expect from Novotel. The rooms were worn out and lacked the fresh feeling we have experienced at other Novotel hotels. For comparison, we would rate Novotel Hamburg 9 out of 10 stars, while Novotel Amsterdam barely deserves 2 stars. Novotel Bangkok Rangsit exceeded all expectations with a clear 10 out of 10 stars. The breakfast in Amsterdam was particularly poor, resembling a noisy food court rather than a proper hotel breakfast – mass-feeding guests without any attention to quality or atmosphere. This was in sharp contrast to the pleasant breakfast experiences we have had at other Novotel hotels. The service at the reception desk was also very disappointing. When I realized I had booked one night too few, I went down to extend our stay. I was promised an additional night for €200, but the next day, I found a note on our door asking me to return to reception. Suddenly, the price had increased to €300, claiming the hotel was now fully booked. A verbal agreement should always be honored (pacta sunt servanda), and this handling was both unprofessional and unacceptable. In summary, Novotel Amsterdam left us with a sense of stress, impersonality, and broken expectations. We cannot recommend this hotel and will be very hesitant to choose Novotel for future stays.

Really not worth the price you pay

The rooms are small, and the standard ones not adapted at all to business people (not even a tiny desk). If you are French, the TV channels are not for you: all European national channels are accessible (NL of course, and UK, Germany, Italy, Spain … even US and China), except the French ones. The sound insulation of the rooms is largely insufficient: I was unlucky enough to have a very noisy neighbor, snoring like a bear the whole night, waking up early and immediately having calls with the loudspeaker at full power, apparently with his wife in India… I know everything about my neighbor but I didn’t sleep! The noise of the lifts was also very present. The lighting system in the rooms is not practical and insufficient. Very tiny bathrooms with no space at all to put your things. Breakfast is quite complete but the jam distributors are nearly all empty and work very badly. For breakfast you should avoid the 8am rush hour when it’s hard to get a seat and the atmosphere is closer to a manufacturing plant than to a restaurant. The staff is kind and do their best, and the restaurant is good and pleasant for dinner, but these positive points do not offset the rest. Definitely not worth the price you pay!

Regarding the TV channels, we strive to offer a diverse selection with indeed Dutch, English, German, Italian, Spanish and Chinese channels. The French channels could be found from channel 43 onwards. Ensuring a peaceful environment is important to us, and we apologize for the disturbances from noise. For future stays, please consider our rooms on higher floors or those facing the city for a quieter experience, and do not hesitate to request earplugs for additional comfort. We recognize the importance of practical lighting and ample bathroom space and take your comments seriously as we continuously seek to improve our guest experience. Additionally, we acknowledge your observations on the breakfast service and will work to ensure that our offerings are fully stocked and accessible, even during peak times. Finally, we are delighted that the genuine efforts of our staff and the quality of our dinner service contributed positively to your stay. During my stay at the Novotel, I was surprised by the unpleasant attitude of two people in charge of breakfast service. Their behavior was inappropriate and aggressive, even though I hadn't requested anything in particular.
