I was on the 0740 Qatar flight. The hotel was right across the road from check in which I discovered after exploring the terminal that evening before. Airport signage is poor - check in information faces one way and I didn’t see it until walking back after visiting all parts of the terminal. Hotel check in was friendly and I was asked about room amenities and location versus lift. Drop off in a car is awkward - narrow road which in the dark was difficult to find. Allowed 15 minutes. Gave number plate so hopefully my daughter got out free. Room was spacious, very clean and had everything I needed. Drinking water available in the hall. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast available from 0400 (continental) or 0500 but I was going to lounge so didn’t need it.

No parking at Novotel at Birmingham airport for families - you will be fined even when you have given your number plate

We arrived at the Novotel hotel and needed dropping off at the hotel door as we had 3 young children, grandma with a bad hip, mum and luggage. we arrived approx 4pm as it was getting dark so the parking was very confusing and people behind are all rushing so you have to keep going, naturally we went into a carpark which is in front of the hotel on entering we realised this was not the correct place so we drove out immediately and continued around the hotel to then see a ramp to the door. we were thrown out of the car as apparently you only have 15 mins to get everything out of the car and we gave our number plate to the hotel as advised but guess what on our return we have received a £100 fine. Naturally we are very upset and annoyed !!! I shall not be using this AIRPORT again. It is terrible that there is no parking etc.
