We booked and prepaid a 2 night stay in a superior 2 double bed room. On arrival the room appeared dated but clean, however the beds had oddly shaped lumps in them. On further inspection it appeared that on top of the mattress was a doubled over feather topper? But it was so old most of the feathers had come out and was all over the mattress, and created such a lump that it was not comfortable to lie on let alone have a good nights sleep in. We rang down to reception to complain, but was told there were no other similar rooms available. We were offered an upgrade to a suite for $100 a night. (I mentioned that this was more than the earlier email I had received prior to our arrival - which had offered an upgrade to a suite for $93, but was told the $100 was the best management could offer). As there was no way we could sleep well in the current room that we had prepaid, we had no option but to accept the upgrade offer. If we had not prepaid the room, we would have left the hotel and found other accommodation. We were very upset at essentially having to pay out more money in order to get a good nights sleep - just because the hotel couldn't offer us another similar room with decent beds. When we finally got into the upgraded suite, we found that the sliding bathroom door was broken (off its hinges). Another call to reception and a handyman came up to fix it (took 20 mins of work). The sofa bed hadnt been made up for our 11 year old son (despite it being clear this would be needed), so another call to reception to have this done. However, once this had been done it soon became apparent that there was no way anyone could sleep on that thing. The metal frame was easily felt through the thin cover and another old feather topper placed on top had feathers coming out (making it like lying on needles). Another call to reception and eventually a roll away bed was brought up, which our son slept in. The windows in the suite were filthy, which was a shame given the potential views. The only redeeming part of this hotel stay was the staff, who were friendly and pleasant throughout. Given this was a 4* hotel and part of the Accor group, I had expected so much more. Ironically, our previous hotel in Anaheim (a motel) was cleaner and more comfortable than this one. We all said how much we wished we had just stayed there for longer. Needless to say, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and will not be choosing to stay here again. You need to have staff test your rooms - would they sleep on those beds? Would they sleep on that sofa bed? If someone had paid full price for that suite, would they be happy with dirty windows and broken doors? I have traveled extensively with work and for pleasure, and worked in hotels myself. I would not be satisfied with the standards presented at this hotel.

I am a repeat guest of the sofitel Los Angeles and I always enjoyed the property for its service and location. The gym has all the necessary equipment, internet is fast. The food and beverage outlets have theme nights that seem to be popular. Service is nice and personable, slight inconsistency at turndown (one day yes and one day no) and furniture need to be updated. I will come back as I like the property

I have stayed in the hotel very frequently for the past two years. It has gone down hill. Customer service has declined. The art in the lobby is untasteful. The front desk has constant turnover. The restuarant is disappointing. I do like the gym and spa. However, I will not be returning to the hotel

Supplies: shower gels, shampoo, coffee tablets weren’t automatically replenished the next day (had to ask room service for those). My bed’s spring came sticking out, with one pointy end sticking out. Thank God no one was injured. That’s not the end of the ordeal tho. That bed was replaced while i was out. It also came with something extra: an men’s dirty underwear!! Probably was stuck with the old mattress. At one time, what i asked from the room service wasnt delivered. I seriously think they’re understaffed on the room service part OR management there needs revamp. My double queen bedroom is basically a full size mattress + a futton bed. You can really tell from its different size and uneven bed’s surface

We had a one night stay and we really only interacted with the Valet, doorman/bellman, and front desk staff, but all were exceptional and seamless, the level of graceful hospitality was quite apparent and uniform through every member we encountered. Great job Sofitel. The lounge off the lobby was the perfect spot for a night cap with some fun music as well. The DJ's selection made it quite enjoyable.

Disappointing

The check in was frustrating. Even though we had requested an early check in we arrived less than 30 minutes before 3pm, ie after 2:30 pm, no room was available even though others were checking in. We explained that we needed to freshen up as we had travelled halfway around the world and no options were offered until we suggested using the gym area to freshen up. Donald on the counter continued to make this a difficult process. Our room was then not available until after 4pm. On the other hand, your restaurant room team are exemplary, in particular Marta and Sandra made our stay welcoming and enjoyable on a daily basis.
