Bungalow hideaway by the beach - Santa Monica, CA

The best location and kept secret in all of LA, I tucked into my bungalow by the beach which was a magical hideaway. It was nestled behind Ocean Avenue which was perfect for daily walks along the beach with my dog. The room was beautiful and felt like my own modern California surf bungalow. The housekeeping staff made it so thoughtful every day with fresh water, fruit, flowers and coffee. The Emwell studio located at the hotel was so convenient for daily yoga and pilates and I found myself having drinks in the lobby lounge with my little dog every day which was enhabved even more with the live pianist. FIG was delicious for breakfast and of course everyone was there at 5 pm for their Fig at Five 'happy hour' and I would highly recommend the oysters and Sancerre! Finally, a little hidden gem is the Soku Japanese restaurant which is one of the most authentic I've ever had ... The staff was incredibly warm and anticipated every need, not to mention Ekaterina who ensured we were comfortable and had everything we needed. If you're looking for a great escape and a bungalow by the beach, this is your spot!

I really enjoyed my stay at the Fairmont Miramar. They have a great restaurant and cafe inside with great food, they also have little stores inside which I find so convenient. The valet service was so great thanks to Johan, Gael, and Armando. They gave me a lovely welcome to the hotel and made parking for me so much easier. Overall I would recommend everyone to stay there they will not regret it.

Hi decent Fairmount hotel, however: room 440 AC was not working to cool the room so we had warm nights making sleep a bit difficult. Followed up 3 times with the team. Room 333 was good however hair dryer did not work and for the last 2-3 days the hallway smelled strongly of cannabis which I reported.

First, the positives: The rooms were nice, the F&B servers were attentive and nice, and the concierge was excellent. However, there were some notable negatives. We arrived at 3:30 PM, after the 3 pm check in time and a 9 hour flight. Our rooms were not ready, but the check in attendant told us they were clean but just needed to be inspected by housekeeping. At 6:30, the rooms were still not ready. I went to ask again at the front desk, and the attendant was very rude and gave the explanation that "housekeeping was very busy." This was 3.5 hours late, and after they knew we were waiting for the rooms! The manager comped the first night, which I did not ask for but was much appreciated. During the stay, housekeeping did not get to our rooms until after 4 pm. This was during the time we were getting ready for dinner, so it resulted in us not getting housekeeping service. This was disappointing. Overall, I felt that the housekeeping and hotel were understaffed. This is an expensive hotel, and for the prices charged, I would expect a higher level of service.
