The vibe at Swissôtel Tallinn: where Swiss warmth meets Estonian cool

The tallest building in Estonia’s capital, Swissôtel Tallinn welcomes you to a world where work and play go hand in hand. As you make your way up to your room, watch the city unfold beneath you – medieval spires and contemporary architecture stretching out to the shimmering Baltic Sea.

Here, your stay is truly elevated – pun intended. Seal deals in state-of-the-art conference facilities or over cocktails in stylish bars. Unwind in the indoor pool with mesmerising city views, or indulge in an Alpine-inspired spa treatment.

When hunger strikes, prepare for a culinary journey at the Michelin-recognised Horisont Restaurant, with its tasting menu and a world-class wine list. Each dish showcases the best of Estonian ingredients with international flair.

And when you’re ready to explore, Tallinn’s fairy-tale Old Town is just a short stroll away. At Swissôtel Tallinn, you get the best of both worlds – modern comfort and medieval charm.

First impressions

Stepping into Swissôtel Tallinn, we feel the city’s buzz fade away. The lobby, with its warm wood panels and soft lighting, instantly puts us at ease. But it’s the genuine smiles and friendly greetings that really make us feel welcome – less like our first time here and more like reconnecting with familiar friends.

Our eyes are drawn to the No. 3 Deli Lounge Bar, tucked into a corner of the lobby. It’s a cosy spot where you can grab a quick coffee, indulge in a pastry or unwind with a cocktail. We’ll be back!

But it’s when we reach our room that the real magic happens. We swing open the door, and bam! The view hits us like a fresh Baltic breeze. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame a postcard-perfect scene of Tallinn’s skyline. Red-tiled roofs and centuries-old church spires dot the cityscape, while the bustling harbour stretches out to meet the shining sea.

After settling in, we head to the spa for a refreshing dip in the pool. It’s the perfect way to shake off the journey and prepare for the evening ahead. And speaking of evenings, there’s the Michelin-recognised Horisont Restaurant waiting to take us on a culinary adventure.

As we wind down the day, we find ourselves drawn back to the window. It’s nearly 10 pm, but being the Baltic summer, the sun is only just beginning to set. We decide to order a nightcap from room service. Sipping our drinks, we watch as the Old Town fades into twilight. It’s a magical end to our first day in Tallinn.

The rooms, every one with a view

At Swissôtel Tallinn, you won’t find yourself peering at a brick wall or an air conditioning unit. From the 12th floor upwards, every room offers a slice of Tallinn’s world-beating charm. Whether you’re admiring the red-roofed Old Town or spotting fishing boats bobbing on the horizon, you’re in for a visual treat.

We settle into our Swiss Advantage room, where classic elegance meets modern comfort. There’s lots of space to spread out, whether you’re preparing for a big presentation or simply lounging about. The ergonomic desk is a plus for business travellers, while the plush king-size bed promises a good night’s sleep for everyone.

Appreciate a bit more elbow room? Book a Swiss Executive room. But whatever you choose, you’ll find thoughtful touches for both work and play. Need a caffeine kick to start your day? The in-room espresso machine has you covered. And with high-speed Wi-Fi at your fingertips, you can easily put the finishing touches on that important pitch.

“Our Favourite View”: While every room boasts a great view, we fell head over heels for the harbour vista. Watching cruise ships glide in and out, and the constant bustle of Estonia’s maritime gateway, gave us a real sense of Tallinn’s connection to the sea.

Eating & drinking, from Michelin-recognised bites to grab-and-go pastries

Whatever you’re craving, this Tallinn hotel has you covered from sunrise to starlight. Perched on the top floor, the Michelin-recognised Horisont Restaurant is a culinary gem with a view to match. Here, Chef Marko Sõmer crafts a tasting menu that’s a love letter to Estonian ingredients, including seafood fresh from the harbour below.

We lose ourselves in a parade of inventive dishes, each paired perfectly from an impressive wine list. The Hamachi with wasabi and orange is a standout, as is the locally-sourced lamb loin. For a digestif, you can’t beat the adjacent bar, or for those in the mood, there’s even a cosy cigar lounge.

We start the next day right with a lavish breakfast spread at The Quarter. From made-to-order waffles to fresh smoothies, it’s fuel for a day of exploring or deal-making. And don’t miss the ice cream machine – a favourite among guests young and old.

"Good to Know”: Don’t miss the chance to watch the sunset from Horisont Restaurant. Order another glass of wine and witness Tallinn transform as day turns to twilight – it’s pure magic.

Unwind & rejuvenate, 11 floors up

Guess what? It’s another space with a view. But this time, we’re gazing at Tallinn’s skyline while floating in a serene indoor pool. Welcome to Pürovel Spa & Sport.

Up on the 11th floor, this urban oasis is your slice of the Swiss Alps in the heart of Estonia. Indulge in treatments using high-end Maria Galland products, or try the detoxifying facial – perfect after a long day exploring Tallinn. We recommend the classic “ultimate massage” with aromatic oils that will transport you straight to an Alpine meadow.

In the mood for a workout? Hit the well-equipped gym. If you prefer some fresh air with your exercise, just ask the staff about their recommended jogging route. They’ll happily point you towards a path that lets you explore Tallinn while keeping up your fitness regime.

“A Superlative Experience”: From our room in Tallinn’s tallest building to the conferences we attended in Estonia’s largest ballroom, Swissôtel Tallinn stands head and shoulders above the rest.

Getting down to business, in Estonia’s largest ballroom

Whether it’s business or leisure, Swissôtel doesn’t do things by halves. We step into the hotel’s ballroom and are immediately struck by its sheer size – it’s the largest in the country. With space for up to 500 guests, it’s clear why this is the go-to venue for everything from international conventions to glamorous galas.

But size isn’t everything. We’re also impressed by the thoughtful details: state-of-the-art AV equipment, sleek parquet floors, and lighting that can transform from all-business to party-ready at the flick of a switch. For more intimate gatherings, the Tornimäe room offers a cosier setting, still with those signature Swissôtel views.

You’ll fall in love with Tallinn Old Town

Just a short walk from Swissôtel Tallinn, we find ourselves transported back in time. Cobblestone streets wind between 14th-century buildings, church spires pierce the sky, and the scent of freshly baked black bread wafts from cosy cafés. Welcome to Tallinn’s enchanting Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site that feels like a fairy tale come to life.

Wander through the charming Town Hall Square, where you can pause for a mug of hot chocolate or sample local delicacies like smoked elk or Baltic herring. As you explore, you’ll discover hidden courtyards, climb ancient city walls, and perhaps stumble upon a medieval-themed restaurant for a truly immersive dining experience.

For a change of pace, we head to the nearby Creative City in Telliskivi. Here, old factories have been transformed into hip cafés, art galleries and boutiques selling Estonian designs. It’s the perfect blend of old and new that defines modern Tallinn.

“Local Gem”: Ask the staff about Telliskivi Creative City. They can recommend street art tours and their favourite designer boutiques. Don’t miss it!
