I expected a higher level of accommodations from the Fairmont Sonoma, especially given the location and brand positioning in wine country. Unfortunately, the room itself felt quite dated. The carpet was old and had a noticeable moldy smell, which for me was the biggest downside of the stay. The bathroom also felt overdue for renovation. The complimentary bottle of wine was a nice touch, although it felt odd that basic bottled water was only available upon request. I was able to get water from the lobby at no charge, but for this category of hotel, complimentary in-room water should be standard. The food at both the lobby bar and conference catering was good, but not at the level I would expect from a Fairmont property in Sonoma. Service overall was friendly when asked, but rarely proactive. One small example: I was heading upstairs in heels to a conference event and two front desk attendants nearby did not offer assistance, despite seeing me carrying items and navigating the stairs. Similarly, the lobby bar service was adequate, but lacked the attentiveness and polish expected at this price point. Overall, the property has potential and the staff was pleasant, but the rooms and service experience did not align with the premium positioning or expectations associated with Fairmont Sonoma.

Not as good as last year. Bugs in the room, not as clean, and laundry service late (1 hour past the window, so 7p, and only after I went to lobby to track it down) and missing an item even though no one mentioned it and I was still charged. Unacceptable.

Of you are off property getting someone on the phone there is impossible. I suggest you call the hotel and try it yourself. Property needs a facelift. Make the grounds non-smoking. Restaurant prices are offensive as is the $59 resort fee.
