Despite arriving 2 hours before check-in, the hotel staff was not able to have our room ready until 30 minutes past check-in time. When we got to the room, most everything was in order except for the shower in the Casablanca Suite's primary bedroom. It had clearly not been cleaned properly. But the real tarnish revealed itself after check-out. We left our suitcase and medical device with the bell hop and received a claim check indicating two items. When we returned to the hotel 2 hours later only the suitcase was still at the hotel. Somebody had put our medical device - something my wife needs for proper sleep every night - in somebody else's car and it had left the premises. It took over an hour for the staff to inform us that the device was no longer at the hotel. We left without the device and waited 3 days for its return. I will say that the guest services manager, Ryan Porter, did the best he could in these dire circumstances, but it still left us with a very poor impression of a hotel like the Fairmont that has usually set the standard for fine accommodations. Ryan personally delivered the device to our home 3 days after we checked out, with apologies but no other form of recompense. We're not the type to make a big stink over mistakes, but the Fairmont clearly has the means to make us feel better about our negative experience.

The stay was good, everyone was nice. Very nice and helpful staff. But I was not notified that my card would be charged $100+ for overnight parking. If that was the case I would have parked somewhere else where it would be a better price. I was only notified of a safety deposit and not of parking fee.

Three situations : 1) when I check-in on Sept/1, front-desk staff (Jaden) told me that my 4 nights' hotel charges were fully paid/settled. Since my booking was done on-line and credit card information had been provided, so I considered Jaden's reply was an assurance of my payment. However on Sept/2, I was told that my hotel bill had not been settled yet and so I need to hassel back to the front-desk (this time is NOT Jaden) to clarify and to sort out the discrepancies. 2) on Sept/2, I was advised by the wedding coordinator that there is a wedding gift to be picked up in the front-desk, this time is Jaden again and he said there is NO item for picking up, and if the gift arrives later, he will have it send to my room .... AGAIN THIS ACTION NEVER HAPPENED .... no gift delivered to my room. I waited until Sept/4 ... still no updates and nothing delivered, I therefore gone to the front-desk and found out the gift was sitting at the back room of front-desk. Very disappointed on this service provided by a 5-Star Hotel in San Francisco !!! 3) this is my WORST ecountered of your front-desk services !! After attending the wedding banquet on Sept/4 night ( this is also the sole purpose of our trip to San Franscisco ) and returned to the hotel, our families were discussing to request for ONE HOUR check-out extension next day on Sept/5 since we were overwhelmed by the celebration dinner and we needed a bit more time to rest and pack before check-out. My husband put forward the request to Jaden and MR JADEN immediately said NO EXTENSION without paying attention or listening to our situation, so my husband insisted to speak with the night time front-desk manager. Then after a few chit-chat between Jaden and Ms. Thank Ha, Ms. Ha came forward with a very unpleasant look and repeated what Jaden said and told my husband that NO EXTENSION will be granted to ALL ROOMS that attending the wedding ! Then I came down from room to the front-desk and spoke again with Ms. Ha, she repeated the above statements and said that Sept/5 bookings are all full and that no extension will be granted. Her facial expressions, her tone and her choice of words were very unpleasant ... my doubt was .... is this the hospitality provided a 5-star hotel in San Francisco !!! not to say that she was the front-desk manager .... to my understanding, front-desk staff are the gate-keeper for hotel's hospitality services, and now I DON'T see this AT ALL !!! I stopped talking further with Ms Ha and returned to my room. I told my relatives whom stayed in another room what had happened, and she said she will go down on Sept/5 morning to talk to the front-desk again. On Sept/5 morning, different group of front-desk staff presence and was warmly & nicely provided half-an-hour extension. My relatives & I were fully understood of the hotel full-booked status and was appreciated the Sept/5 front-desk staff's helpfulness in providing us with some extension. However, I was still not totally satisfied of just extending the check-out time by 30 minutes. As a 5-star hotel with over 600+ rooms, to extend TWO rooms with only just ONE HOUR ( we were not requesting for many hours ! ) is really that impossible !?! One final comment, on Sept/5 morning, I did manage to speak to a lady name Ida whom I was told is the manager of all front-desk managers. I filed my complaints towards the services attitude of Ms Ha and the inappropriate services provided by Jaden and she acknowledged and saying that they both need coaching/re-training. Last but not the least, I expressed the above experiences here because I'm hoping that these will not be repeatedly happen to your upcoming hotel guests.

The front desk staff was very kind- professional and delightful to work with. Brunch the following day was good- however the service was not great- our waiter greeted us upon arrival - we did not see him again until he presented us with the bill. While it is a buffet, for the price, better service would be nice.

Booked through the Chase “the Edit” package. No upgrade offered (got the worst room at the property), no welcome gift, our request for late checkout was denied until we confronted the front desk in outrage. Overall we did not feel welcomed at all from the attitudes of the front desk staff. People should realize that this is a hospitality business, and guests should not feel uncomfortable dealing with the staff.

Wanted to let someone know that on Monday night someone came knocking on our door at 10:20pm and woke us up After not answering as we were awoken they then took something and knocked even louder. This is concerning as we did not order any room service and no one should be knocking. Please look into whether someone had ordered room service on floor 19 that night at that time and be aware that that happened as they shouldn't get room number wrong. It was very creepy. The waits at breakfast were also very long. They should have a better system of seating people as we were waiting for a half hour and a man that came way after us got seated before us after talking to the hostess and complaining. The rest of our experience was amazing. We loved the amazing view and room and hotel.

I felt so welcomed by all the staff. They were personable and friendly, that was the main thing that I noticed. Someone past me in the hallway and said my name, I was so surprised. The room was amazing, beautiful and quiet. Everything was so perfect, mostly that I felt very welcomed and valued. The front desk gentleman told me he met his wife in the lobby of the hotel. The car valet told me he had been there for 30 some years. He rushed off to help a young woman with a crying baby. It felt like a dream, everyone so kind and caring. It is my new favorite hotel in San Francisco.

I stayed in the older building not the tower. I loved the old style of the building. Only downside was the curtains in room 519 would not close all the way. I'm sure that it was the AC but it's a bad thing to not be able to shut your curtains in a hotel room.
