It matched my expectation of proximity to the locations I wanted. I would recommend it for being in central location, in addition to great service at the reception. Very helpful. Very welcoming. Spent a night only so cannot say more about the overall but the stay was satisfactory.

Quirky hotel with old fashioned lifts and little balconies to enjoy in nice weather! Superb location!

You can't beat this hotel for its location. It's location couldn't be more ideal sitting on Rua Sá da Bandeira which runs parallel to one of the most popular pedestrianised streets Rua Santa Catarina. It is a 10-15 minute walk to the beautifully preserved São Bento railway station which is one of the most popular attractions in Europe and truly is a stunning sight to behold. On the many side streets along this route there are so many food and shopping options. The room was small but clean and the hot water came on right away. The bed was comfy and I loved the open wooden shelving system so you can easily see all your belongings and don't risk leaving something behind. Breakfast was fine though the space in which to move around is challenging when you have large groups of people. Wifi was free and reliable. There are two lifts which are remnants of the old apartment building which isn't adequate when many people are checking in and out of the hotel. I had to walk the 3 flights of stairs on 2 occasions. Otherwise the staff are pleasant and helpful and you're guaranteed a pretty good night's sleep.

Defective Thermostat

One of the three rooms we had had a defective thermostat and was set at 25 centigrade. The hallway was cooler and more comfortable than the room and my son was not able to sleep the first of our two night's stay. When the first report was made, nothing was done. It was a young man who worked more than 12 hours who was finally able to help. He and a colleague tried several times to correct it from the man control. Only after several reports were they given another room. Too much hassle for an expensive hotel.

I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. In regards to the thermostat I can confirm it was not out of service or broken, we are a newish hotel and at the time of the "building" we picked the best for our guests. Our current system gives the freedom to our guests to pick what they want the AC in the rooms from dry, cold, hot, etc... The issue with this is that we are unable to block the menus, meaning you can change language, block the controls, etc... This is a flaw of the system as it is design for homes. offices, etc. Our maintenance team as given a training and prepared a manual of how to unblock, change languages, to help the team when they are not on site. I complete agree with you that if they cannot fix the issue, they should have moved you straight away, and this point I take on board and the same as been shared with all team members. In regards to team members working 12 hours that is a false affirmation as no one works for that period of time, and all the automated clock system that is biometric confirms the same.
