This hotel needs some serious renovations. We booked this room for a staycation during NYE for the family. Not sure if it’s because we booked it under the “Local NY price” so they gave us the worst room or all rooms are horrible. Breakfast is also not that great with their options, even so the kitchen struggled to keep up topping up when there’s only 6 things food to top up. the room have that distinct smell I couldn’t explain, it’s like a mixture of musky damp room + sea salt water. The staff members are all wonderful, helpful, & kind. I just really hope Novotel will do some sprucing with their building, because with the amount of money we paid for the rooms, we’d rather just stayed at a motel. For reference, we paid $600++ for 2br , for 2 nights. We did ask the staff member if they can move us for a different room, but they’ll charge us $60 on top of that, we don’t want to risk getting the same conditioned room & pay more. Would not stay here ever.

Check in was slow, only one person on the desk with a long line to check in. Waited 20 mins to be served - the team member was lovely, however should have more support at peak check in time. Room was dirty, bathroom had others hair on wall tiles, toilet leaking, shower head leaking. Stayed in room 206 Vomit stained carpet just outside lift. Called reception for more milk -waited 20 mins, and had to call reception again. After second call came within mins. Walls have salt damp or water damage and was just painted over. Booked as a treat, but I would not stay again. Was a 2-3 star experience at a premium price.

Room was old many things wrong with room

Very old rooms, felt like a half way house. Despite booking 2 rooms months in advance (platinum) we were given an old room on the 2nd floor. After asking if there was a better room was given another old room on 3rd floor. First night indigenous family (which I was told by reception they set aside some rooms) - that’s fine but kids running amok in hallways and twice was run into trying to exit the lift. No sleep first night due to room below were screaming and fighting until 4.00am! My sister had to move her room and we all had no sleep. Spoke to reception and explained situation and again asked if I could move to higher room but always got a “sorry but room not clean”. Note that I did book twin room but said we would be happy to share king room but still stated none available. They certainly did have extra rooms upstairs but just didn’t seem to be accomodating at all. I have stayed there in dry season and was given a lovely room (5th floor) and staff were wonderful, and no unruly guests. Felt staff this time not bothered with our concerns - even though we were very polite at all times. Breakfast - cold, dry bacon and poached eggs were always hard to- had to ask for fresh ones each morning (I was not the only one apparently - people next to us said they were very unimpressed with breakfast as well.). Sorry but I never put in a bad review but this needs to be noted and sorted for all Accor Members.
