Amazing location, the room was great and spacious with a beautiful view. We used Dijon as a base to explore Beaune & the Route des Grand Cru, the small villages in rural Burgundy, and Alsace, and we were always happy to get back “home” at the end of the day to the Grand Hotel La Cloche. Merci beaucoup!

There were almost always lots of people waiting for one of the two small elevators. We also observed a queue for breakfast on Sunday morning, even though the restaurant team worked efficiently. The carpets in front of elevators on the room floors seemed to always have some pieces of papers or other untidy stuff

We had problems at check-in when we were informed they would not honour the free weekend breakfast as per our booking. When this was finally sorted by Delphine, we actually found the breakfast offerings were way below a normal 5 star standard. But, our biggest problem was the shower over the deep bath. It was treacherous to get in and out and water splashed everywhere as there was no curtain or screen. How this passes safety standards, we do not know!

The service and staff were all really really lovely and there was no issue at all with them. The price of the room compared to the lack of upgrade really made the whole experience feel not worth it at all. The hair dryer barely worked and clearly was the original. The wifi didn’t work in the room. The cheapness of the style in the room - like the faux library art on the walls - all just felt very not 5 star luxury hotel. There was no light in the shower? No electric plug points anywhere near the bed. Television didn’t have modern updates allowing for streaming. Surely for such a huge price per night at least one of the things above could have been upgraded by now. Very very disappointed. The only reason I gave five out of ten is because the staff were lovely but I definitely wouldn’t recommend the hotel.
