Great location, but underwhelming customer experience and basic rooms.

My first impression was poor. Check in was slow as there was a group in front of me who had an issue with their booking. There was only one person on reception checking people in, but after around 10 minutes suddenly another person appeared who was able to check me in. I think the hotel could have imprives the customer experience here significantly. The rooms are functional and basic. The bathroom is tiny and the washbasin is located in the main room. On the positive side, the breakfast was breakfast was very good and the location was great, very close to the opera house.

Problems with hosting - not standard Ibis

Problems with room access, the access card (door key) does not work, hotel staff simply ask to return to the front desk many times. Horrible service. The bathroom doesn't have a shower stall, the curtain that tries to block the water is not good, so the bathroom gets all flooded.

E.g: why no mirror in the room (neither in the bathroom)? Non-sense.... Breakfast is weak. E.g.: why butter to be get by using a spoon? It's a big mess.Also the espresso coffee machine was out-of-work...

Incredibly poor service

Our stay was really disappointing. Initially we had booked one night May 30 and two nights June 2-4 (before and after our two night Amazon Lodge stay). We asked the front desk staff if it would be possible to store our luggage for two nights while we were away. We were told that the policy was one night but that they would check with the manager. They never got back to us. When we went back down to check, the staff had changed and the answer was absolutely no, without wanting to hear about it. The evening supervisor seemed upset and mad at everyone - serious lack of customer service. Luckily for us there are so many amazing hotels in the area, we walked around to ask about availability and luggage storage - ALL THREE hotels we visited were willing to store our luggage for two nights, no questions asked. We booked a new hotel and cancelled our June 2-4 reservation at the Ibis Styles. (There was also a leak in our room and it was only called into maintenance after we came to check on the status a second time an hour later - at which point we were moved to another room... again serious lack of simple guest care.)

Clean hotel, courteous and friendly staff, good food. Hotel is centrally located to many places, walking distance.

Enjoyed my stay, only one issue of the hotel not having enough change when guests are paying in cash (reàl); asking guests to pay with credit card instead? I took time to get dollars changed to reàl should have been able to use them.
